The nature of this position is “hybrid” but will be domiciled in Jackson, MS.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The primary focus of the risk assessment processes is identification of risk and ensuring elimination or mitigation practices are implemented to manage the risk. This position will provide technical reviews of relay protection & control isolations and work instructions for maintenance and capital activities. Additional reviews would include work documents, outage strategies, control house barricading, and plans implementing risk control’s process for all aspects of transmission work which could impact nuclear, industrial, or other strategic customers.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements risk controls’ processes throughout transmission for all aspects of the capital and O&M portfolio which could impact nuclear, industrial customers and other strategic customers.
Ensuring the Asset Management construction standards are being properly followed for relay work being reviewed.
Provide/develop technical reviews of work strategies and documents pertaining to execution of work tasks being performed by all organizations within transmission.
Upon reviewing the work being performed, the objective is to identify risk and ways to manage, mitigate, or eliminate risk while identifying potential work bundling opportunities.
Serves as a primary contact for questions related to the relay documents associated with risk assessments while working in a team environment evaluating the reliability risk.
Will lead, participate and/or develop procedures, metrics and training materials supporting implementation of risk processes across all of Transmission assets, as well as challenge transmission organizations to apply consistent risk controls process
Lead critical evolution meetings with all necessary stakeholders centered on the risk profile of the tasks and projects being evaluated
Provides input to design engineers, construction engineers, planning, and project managers on ways to reduce the reliability risk while developing their project scope of work
Actively participate in project team meetings to discuss risk profiles in early development stages of proposed projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
- Technical Degree (2-year Associate or 4-year Bachelor’s) and/or years of operational experience in electric utilities commensurate with progression level (detailed below).
Minimum Experience:
with 4-year bachelor’s degree: 8 years of experience
with 2-year associate degree: 12 years of experience
with supervisory experience: 16 years of experience
without a degree: 20 years of experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Sound understanding of engineering and design principles.
Understanding of relevant processes and policies, plus exceptional design skills and judgment.
Consistently demonstrates good judgment.
Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
Basic theory of electricity.
Ability to interpret construction drawings.
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Self-motivated and dependable team player.
Good math skills.
Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets.
Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Preferred :
Thorough understanding of Relay operations and maintenance procedures
Very familiar with relay commissioning processes
Experience in relay protection isolations, work practices, standards, procedures, and processes
