Are you seeking a Job that gives you satisfaction when the task is complete. BAE Systems could be the answer to your search. We are seeking a candidate for our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility as a Crane Supervisor.

The Crane Supervisor will be directly responsible to the Rigging Manager for ensuring thatall crane operations are carried out in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

He/she will also maintain theresponsibility of ensuring that all required training for the operators and the DOT physicals of the operators are up to date and/or scheduled to avoid any lapse, as well as coordinating, and supervising the work carried out by all cranes at assigned site/s in accordance with departmental demands and or needs.

The Crane Supervisor oversees the daily, and safe operation of equipment for production by subordinates, pre-operational inspections of equipment and review findings and take necessary actions for correction with reports to management, records work performed and ensure compliance with specified safety policies and procedures.

Must be able to understand, perform and communicate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), demonstrate high level managerial skills and abilities to subordinate operators with minimal oversight, to include accurately entering and correcting employees time as required.

Must be willing to perform corrective actions as deemed necessary to maintain departmental standards as set forth by upper management.

The selected candidate may be required to work weekend/holiday shifts and other tasks as determined by upper management.

ACrane Supervisormust demonstrate a high degree of diverse and inclusive leadership traits with expert knowledge of the skills and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility, while directing a team of junior employees. Have expert knowledge of, and capable of training others in the arena of ASME B30, NAVFAC P-307, OSHA 1926, 1915, 1917, 1910, B30.9, B30.26, B30.5 and all other applicable standards as they apply to Maritime Crane Operations.

Expert knowledge means that theCrane Supervisorunderstands how to perform and lead tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to lead and teach others how to complete the tasks and serve as a leader regarding these areas of knowledge as well as overall project scope.

This also means that theCrane Supervisorhas the necessary level of knowledge of the personnel, equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to safely complete these tasks. ACrane Manager Ialso is expected to strategize independently, problem-solve, and contribute to project planning and execution, demonstrate an expert understanding of vessel compartments, number systems and related vessel terminology for multiple ship platforms naval and commercial.

TheCrane Supervisor must be knowledgeable of job planning and execution, proper gear selection, leading other junior employees with minimal supervision and willing to supervise rigging mechanics and CDL Truck Drivers just the same. Must demonstrate an expert knowledge of the skills, functional knowledge and abilities required to perform tasks in these and other related areas of responsibility. OSHA Maritime Series, Safe Crane Awareness and Critical Lifts as defined in NAVSEA Standard Items;

  • Responsible for leading daily toolbox talks with model behavior and managerial expectations.

  • Responsible for ensuring that company goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity are aggressively pursued.

  • Oversee and monitor schedule performance including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, investigate late activities, and assist project supervision in development of practical solutions.

  • Allocate personnel and resources to efficiently support all contracts (including shift work)

  • Monitor productivity across all shifts including the amount and type of work assigned as well as the quality and quantity of work accomplished.

  • Review project schedules during the planning phase.

  • Ensure that Company policies are adhered to and the policies are clearly understood by subordinates (ISO, Environmental and Safety). Train and motivate employees in the areas of technical knowledge, safety, environmental and communication.

  • Ensure that inter-departmental relations are maintained.

  • Ensure that requirements of the labor agreement are properly enforced.

  • Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned.

  • Must participate in J.H.A. (Job Hazard Analysis) program.

  • Must be highly proficient in rigging principles to include, working load limits, sling angle deductions, center of gravity, and rigging gear inspection

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must possess current NCCCO or NCCER Certification and maintain throughout employment

  • Must have minimum of 10 years continuous experience in Hydraulic Mobile Crane operation in a shipyard or similar environment.

  • Must possess current DOT physical certification.

  • Must pass Pegborne testing as applicable.

  • Must be able to read and interpret all load charts and be able to interpret hand and voice signals.

  • Must be proficient in determining how much material can be lifted safely based upon weather conditions and the capacity of the crane.

  • Must plan, specify and position rigging equipment for accomplishing work in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Must supervise inspection of and maintain crane against any defects or malfunctions.

  • Must be able to read and interpret job specifications and works with minimum supervision.

  • Must hold crane operators and rigging team responsible for maintaining housekeeping, keeping worksite free of waste and keeping materials and equipment stowed in an orderly manner.

  • Must enforce safe crane and rigging practices at all times.

Must verify and acknowledge completion of daily inspections, documenting logs as

  • legal records and as applicable to all company owned and rental cranes in its possession.

  • Must ensure proper maintenance (lubrication) is being conducted and be familiar with assembly and disassembly of company owned cranes.

  • Must participate in J.H.A. (Job Hazard Analysis) program.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Identification Biometric System (DBIDS) in accordance with local government policies.

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with all governing documents pertaining to safe maritime crane operations to include, but not limited to;ASME B30, NAVFAC P-307, OSHA 1926, 1915, 1917, 1910, B30.9, B30.26, B30.5.

  • Demonstrated and documented computer skills to include MS Office Suite

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification System "DBIDS" access card.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • NACB or equally certified Crane Instructor

  • NACB or equally certified Crane Assembly/Disassembly Person

  • NACB or equally certified Lift Director

  • Additional qualification for Lattice boom and Friction type cranes similar to Link-Belt, Liehber, Carry-Deck and Manitowoc.

  • NAVSEA Local and Standard Items

  • 15 years or above Crane Operator experience (Mandatory)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $87700 - $149100

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
