We are searching for the best talent for an Optical Design Staff Engineer to join our Vision Team located in Jacksonville, Florida.

Purpose:
The Staff Engineer's primary accountability will be to provide innovative optical designs that improve the vision of our patients while being comfortable, healthy, and easy to use. More specifically, the Staff Engineer will collaborate closely with vision scientists, clinicians, and technical centers of excellence to create and translate scientific insights into optical design features for deployment into the R&D product pipeline. This accountability includes: Advancing our fundamental understanding of the human visual system to allow for "Eye Inspired" optical designs in support of Presbyopia, Myopia Progression and Light Management product platforms; developing and validating eye and vision models; developing and maintaining the optical design and analysis tools necessary for accurate product performance predictions; performing optical tolerance analysis; assisting in developing advanced optical bench systems; working across the organization to attain, organize and document the necessary in-vitro and in-vivo data for eye and vision model development; providing optical engineering expertise across the organization as required; developing intellectual property.
You will be responsible for:
The Staff Engineer will adhere to all environmental and safety policies and procedures and support department environmental objectives as well as engage in Credo-based decision making.
Optical design optimization, specification, and tolerances
Development and validation of optical and vision models
Builds and maintains relationships with critical partners to conduct research and evaluate novel technologies
Assist in competitive product assessments and claims substantiation
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Optics, Physics or Vision Science or Applied Math required; PhD highly preferred
A minimum of 5 years work experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment with demonstrated experience in optical system design, visual optics design, and/or vision research is required
Experience with ophthalmic product design or technology is highly preferred
Demonstrated working knowledge of optical design software (ZEMAX, Code V and the like), Engineering computing (MATLAB and the like), statistics, data analytics & mathematical modeling
Demonstrated ability to integrate knowledge across diverse technologies (e.g. optical design, mechanical design, eye physiology, image interpretation, physics) to generate technical insights and translate into design solutions
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Excellent organizational skills required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$105,000-$160,000
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
