We are looking for a valuable team member to fill the role of:

Primary role will be Weld Engineering Manager responsible for Military, and Commercial Ship Repair. Additionally, the role will be responsible for managing fabrication requirements for the latest in submarines and Guided Missile Destroyers. Secondary role will be to act as the company's Non-Destructive Test NDT III Examiner who oversees and is overall responsible for maintaining the NDT program. The NDT Examiner develops and maintains NDT procedures, certifies NDT inspectors, maintains procedure and inspector certification documentation, audits subcontractor's NDT programs, supervises NDT Inspectors, reviews NDT reports, documents nonconformance and actively participate in corrective/preventive action activities. The NDT Level III Examiner devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the compliance of products. Will also be responsible for maintaining company weld procedures and welder certification program. The NDT III Examiner is the in-house resource and considered the subject matter expert in Welding Processes, Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing and Visual Testing.

The following duties are typical of the position:

  1. Responsible for the leadership for BAE Welding Engineering/NDT Program in support of projects, or portions of multiple projects, within established guidelines.

  2. Developed welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals and providing support to other BAE Systems welding facilities in Weapons, Armor Combat Vehicles, and Ship repair sectors.

  3. Capable of managing the constraint of scope, schedule, and quality for assigned projects

  4. Primary Liaison with customers (internal) and other contractors (external) as it pertains to the execution of Fabrication and NDT.

  5. Develops and executes processes and procedures to meet management and project requirements.

6 Develops briefs and/or reports on the status of Fabrication and NDT.

  1. Ensures NDT requirements are met.

  2. Initiates corrective action to support task problems and failures

  3. Develop and implement NDT Surveillance plans for workmanship and acceptance testing for organic crafts, fabrication, commercial and subcontracted work

10.. Support internal and external audits.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 4 year Degree in Engineering with 6-10 years experience in the ship repair industry with NAVSEA or Private Shipyard experience

  • Direct knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods VT, PT, MT, UT in compliance with MIL-STD 271, American Bureau of Standards, ASNT-TC-1A

  • Practical experience in Development and Approval of Weld Procedures to NAVSEA Standards in compliance with MIL-STD 248 and ABS Standards

  • Direct Knowledge of the requirements of MIL-STDs 1689/1688/278/22D for structural piping work aboard Naval vessels.

  • Direct knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods VT, PT, MT, UT in compliance with MIL-STD 271, and American Bureau of Standards

  • Practical experience in Development and Approval of Weld Procedures to NAVSEA Standards in compliance with MIL-STD 248 and ABS Standards

  • Direct Knowledge of the requirements of MIL-STDs 1689/1688/278/22D for repair and fabrication related to Naval vessels.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Development and implementation of Quality Management Systems Standard Operating Procedures per 9001:2015 standards

  • Naval Shipbuilders NDT Level III Certifications

  • Knowledge of management and storage requirements for welding materials including level 1/Subsafe program requirements

  • Knowledge of Robotic Welding Techniques- and related requirements

  • Lead Auditor Certification 9001:2015

  • Knowledge of Welding and Workmanship Standards ABS, AWS, ASNT-TC-1A, ASME, MIL-STDs

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118504 - $201457

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
