Cardinal Health Director Manufacturing, Plant Leader in Jacksonville, Texas

Our Global Medical Supply Chain business is currently looking for a Director of Manufacturing - Jacksonville, Texas to lead the manufacturing of our Fluid Management products. This site leader will have financial and operational responsibility for a 300,000 square foot site with annual volumes of 180M units. The successful candidate will have direct/indirect responsibility for roughly 250 employees. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries. Utilizing the CAH Manufacturing Operating Standard (CAH MOS), the director of operations will work closely with site leadership and partner with the Commercial, R&D and Global Supply Chain teams to strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success.

The Director of Manufacturing, site leader is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations of a non-sterile manufacturing site, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. The site leader is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership inclusive of the cost and efficiency of production as well as maintenance activities including process improvement, supply chain management, quality assurance, employee safety and engagement, and environmental commitment. This individual will identify and activate cost reduction and process improvement projects for their site to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness. In this role you will lead cross functional teams to support good manufacturing practices as well as implement performance management techniques to successfully meet and exceed our operational, customer, employee, and organizational long-term commitments.

Responsibility:

  • Responsible for Production Operations, Maintenance, Plant Engineering, Safety, Quality Control, Scheduling, and Warehousing. Leads plant personnel directly and through subordinate managers and/or supervisors. Fully supports all corporate initiatives and directives.

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.

  • Responsible for all employee relations programs and policies. Ensure that all associates are treated fairly and that policies and programs are administered consistently.

  • Develops, plans, coordinates and manages facility safety & environmental programs, including the management and implementation of those programs to ensure the safety of facility’s physical environment for employees, contractor and visitors, and to ensure compliance with applicable company policies and local, and government regulations.

  • Oversees responsibility for site security. Ensures that security protocols are followed and that the building remains reasonably secure. Regularly audits the site’s security systems for effectiveness.

  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement. Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures an accountable Quality program that holds plant operations responsible to compliance to Medical Regulations. Also, that the facility meets the corporate expectations for validations, process capability and the CAPA process.

  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.

  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality and customer service.

  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Maintain Inventory levels and control flow of product from our plant to the customers. Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.

  • Ensures the integrity of all financial reporting and financial controls in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines. Manage site budget.

  • Prepares and maintains long- and short-range plans. Creates facility vision that complies with company objectives. Ensures clear and concise objectives are in place for all employees and accountability against stated objectives.

  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all employees. Leads the VOE initiatives along with HR team.

  • Communicate with R&D as well as Marketing team to develop new product strategies, new materials and process innovations.

  • Maintains the Business Continuity plan active from capacity, material sourcing, labor, sterilization and shipping perspective.

  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

  • Experience in large manufacturing and medical device or other FDA regulated industry.

  • 7-10 years’ supervisory and management experience preferred.

  • Proven leadership capabilities, including ability to manage diverse personalities/skill sets in a changing environment.

  • Strong ability to develop relationships internally and externally at all levels up to and including C-Suite.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate with all functions and levels within the company, as well as customers, suppliers, and the community.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering, safety systems, automation, machine control, others.

  • Strong MS Office skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.

  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs and align to service needs within a Sales and Operations planning process.

  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven. Change agent.

Anticipated salary range: $130,700 - $211,000

  • The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
