Work hours for the Operation Technician are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. The Operations Technician will be included in and required to perform Call Out duties as described in the current AFSCME 1479 contract. Emergencies and extenuating circumstances may require temporary schedule changes. _ Job Location_ Jerseyville / Hardin Districts _ Job Description_ The successful candidate will be responsible for field service and production related duties as necessary and assigned for the district’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Duties will include performing skilled tasks associated with the construction, operation, maintenance, and inspection of the water & wastewater distribution systems including but not limited commercial and domestic services, meter settings, water mains, valves, sewer mains, manholes, and laterals. The successful candidate will routinely drive and operate dump truck, vac truck, service truck, backhoe, and other related construction equipment.  Maintenance tasks will be of a high technical nature including setting meters, locating utilities, joining sections of pipe, laying pipe in a trench, setting barricades, placing safety lights around worksites, flagging traffic as required as well as repairing and lubricating machines and equipment, and using hand tools and power tools. Collecting water samples and tests to determine basic water quality parameters will also be required.  The successful candidate may be assigned to production related tasks as necessary. _ Salary_ $29.57/hr _ Minimum Requirements_ Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification: Valid Driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL. Minimum Class C license is required within 30 days. Experience: 0-2 years minimum in water and wastewater industry. Skills: Strong work ethic, time management, communication, and organizational and team membership skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Good mechanical skills. Position requires the ability to lift 75lbs.
