Summary, Focus and Purpose

We are seeking a growth and improvement minded Value Medical Project Management (VMPM) Team Leader that can help drive our Strategic Operating Priorities. The Team Leader Director reports to the Executive Director, Project Management Value Medical Project Management. This Team Leader has responsibility for portfolio management of across a set of products or indications and leads a team of project managers to provide oversight to execution of components of the Value Evidence and Medical (VEAM) plan. The Project Management Team (PDT) also provides project management oversight for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions.

The Team Leader will manage the Center for Observational and Real World Evidence/Global Medical/Scientific Affairs/Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (CORE/GMSA/BARDS) collaboration with our company's colleagues to ensure cross-functional integration and collaboration across Value Evidence Sub Team (VEST), PDT, our company, Global Medical Affairs (GMA), BARDS-HTA, Research Division, GPAM.

Key Functions

  • Oversight of a Project Management Professionals Team to provide planning, management and reporting of all activities in the VEAM plan, and ensure strong collaboration with VESTs and Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Repeatable, and Traceable (SMART) Teams

  • Lead the team to continuously improve on the functional area project management model. Develop project managers to realize excellence in project management through collaboration across a network of people, processes, systems and analytics

  • Contribute to the development of a center of excellence in Project Management that collaborates across CORE, GMSA and BARDS

  • Contribute to the advancement of systems, processes and collaborations to support milestone tracking and delivery of HTA dossiers and all components of the VEAM Plan

  • Manage a portfolio of indications or products within a therapeutic area and provide oversight to planning and execution for a group of products or indications

  • Build upon the foundation of collaboration across CORE, GMA, BARDS-HTA and the Company’s colleagues

  • Identify, recruit and develop talent for functional area project management and research project management

  • Collaborate with global colleagues in IT, Finance and HR to create and maintain the required infrastructure to support project management

  • Build and maintain a robust understanding of external stakeholders and their decision-making processes and evidence needs

  • Ensure compliant and quality execution of all components of VEAM plan

  • Facilitate collaboration across therapeutic and functional areas with alliance partners and other external partners

  • Work within and across therapeutic area teams/product lines to establish and share best practices and drive efficiencies

Education

  • Bachelor or Master degree in science, business, engineering or related healthcare area

Experience | Knowledge | Skills

Required

  • Eight years leading, interpreting, utilizing, evaluating, and/or conducting health economics and outcomes research or medical affairs activities to support pharmaceutical product market access from early development through lifecycle management across multiple therapeutic areas or a combination of both.

  • Project management in research operations or medical affairs activities; proven prioritization and risk management skills

  • Leading and directly managing diverse and multicultural teams, developing and building talent and leading cross-functional teams | Ability to navigate new or ambiguous situations

  • Ability to navigate new or ambiguous situations and provide innovative solutions

  • Knowledge of reimbursement and HTA processes and how value evidence can support the information needs of decision makers

  • Knowledge and understanding of scientific exchange, medical education, insights gathering and guideline development

  • Lead with high compliance, quality and ethical standards

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of HTA, scientific exchange, guideline development, insights gathering, conducting effectiveness research and non-interventional studies

  • Strong ability to work in a matrix organization, with leadership skills among scientific staff levels

  • Effective, goal driven collaboration with Global Medical/Scientific Affairs teams, the Scientific Affairs Operations Team, our company's Research Labs Finance/Procurement, Human Resources, Global Medical Affairs Capabilities (GMAC) and GMAC Hubs, Center for Observational and Real World Evidence (CORE), BARDS PE, BARDS HTA, BARDS HEDS, Research Division GPAM and commercial teams

  • Ability to think strategically, collaborate cross-functionally and align colleagues to critical functional area priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication, collaboration and internal/external networking capabilities, including ability to challenge the status quo and lead organization change

  • Embed Company Ways of Working, Design Thinking and Agile principles in everyday work, including experimentation, networks over silos, learning over knowing

  • Thorough understanding of the global regulatory, legal and compliance environment ​

Preferred

  • Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

Expected salary range:

$159,200.00 - $250,700.00
