Responsibilities
Under direction of the Director, Capital Project Execution and Execution Excellence, this position is responsible for the management and execution of project controls (PC) on capital projects globally. Our Project Controls team covers the areas of Estimating, Cost Control and Scheduling. In this role, you will lead a group of Project Controls professionals that are assigned to individual capital projects.
The primary responsibilities include:
Drive cross functional interaction between the PC team, Project Managers (PMs), Project Engineers (PEs) and Construction Managers (CMs) to ensure consistent, best-in-class project delivery
Drive continuous improvement within the team and the organization
Develop PC standards for each project phase to drive consistent project delivery
Develop training packages for each PC function and each project phase to drive consistent project delivery
Proven ability to manage, coach and develop team members
Engage formally or informally with recognized industry leaders and consultants in project delivery to ensure Eastman tools & procedures are up-to-date with the industry
Develop and maintain Project Controls Procedures for capital projects. Continuously review estimating, cost and schedule control systems. Participate in industry and site benchmarking efforts.
Serve as a member of Capital Execution Leadership Team along with Engineering, Construction, Capital Planning and the Project Management Office
Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of a Project Controls Team consisting of Estimating, Cost Controls and Scheduling resources
Anticipate complex internal and external project control issues with impact on the organization; recommend innovative project controls solutions
Ensure capital projects are estimated appropriately and executed within established budgets and timelines
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Engineering, Management Information, Business or Accounting preferred
Must have at least 10 years of experience in project controls management
Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis
Experience and demonstrated skill in directing, planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control and analysis
Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for Project Controls activities
Skilled in direction, personnel administration and training of technical and nontechnical personnel
Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems
Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
Knowledge of current industry and technical developments
Demonstrated expertise in delivery, communication and training of risk processes and procedures
Advanced proficiency with the applicable software applications (i.e., Microsoft excel and Power BI) to provide analysis and insights related to project and portfolio data. Additional preferred software experience with Primavera Scheduling software.
Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines while managing priorities
The ability to effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting complex project proposals and reports to senior level management
The ability to maintain confidential information
Must be willing to travel
