Responsibilities
We are hiring a Technical Manager for the AOD section in CAMD Intermediates Manufacturing. This role is a high-impact role, leading a technical team in support of AA1, A&B and TMCD operating areas. The selected employee will be key to the safe, reliable and quality production of several products critical to the Kingsport site streams and long-term growth and innovation strategy.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop a technical team (currently 4 engineers)
Provide strong mentorship of process improvement engineering team supporting the areas (currently 9 engineers)
Lead business and supply chain connection across 3 business units (Chemical intermediates, Polymers, and Functional Products) for +12 chemical products
Own production needs for each operating area to ensure alignment with business, operations and maintenance needs to allow for safe, reliable and quality production
Work closely with Operations team to identify and prioritize work
Drive zero overdue culture with engineering support through MOC/PLE work effectiveness, incident action item completion and process safety study/action completion
Support Process Hazard Analysis long-term plan for AA1 operating area, specifically around burner management system implementation
Organize long-term capital spend and asset strategy based on safety, reliability and business demand
Align with Quality and Technology on new product development and qualifications such as Eastapure platform advancements, new raw materials and new customer qualifications
Prioritize and drive business growth needs for current and future demand around the acetyl stream (both acetic acid consumption and acetic anhydride production), Eastapure platform and TMCD growth supporting Tritan
Provide back-up assistance when needed in the absence of the Team Manager or Area Manager
Provide weekend duty coverage for the department once onboarding training is complete (approximately 4 weeks/year)
Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required
Must have at least 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant; 5+ years preferred
Experience in a broad spectrum of chemical processing unit operations, instrumentation and controls
Strong technical and engineering skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to support working with a cross-functional team of employees
