Responsibilities

Role: Provide mechanical technical support for Eastman manufacturing units in Kingsport, TN. Individuals in this role utilize a broad range of mechanical skills on projects that range from small, fast-paced production projects to development projects, to execution of capital projects.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility will be to support a manufacturing division in the design and installation of various mechanical projects including: engineering studies, mechanical equipment/instrument specification and selection, capital project support, project estimating, technical field support and troubleshooting of systems and equipment, project scope documentation, equipment selection and installation design, etc.

  • Ensure mechanical safety in manufacturing areas and work safely.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Development, and Manufacturing teams to achieve production, reliability, and maintenance goals.

  • Lead and work with Plant Engineering teams to provide technical solutions, project management, and support throughout project cycles.

  • Assist in the installation, check-out, and start-up of new or modified equipment and systems.

  • Support and mentor teams, contribute to global engineering initiatives, and provide mechanical technical support for troubleshooting and operational improvements.

  • Utilize various digital tools and software for project management and documentation.

  • Produce drawings, cost estimates, and support department initiatives while ensuring safety.

Qualifications

Requirements: • Associates Degree highly preferred or 5 years equivalent experience in technical field • Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. Strong preference for experience in an industrial or chemical plant environment. Experience to include:

  • Technical Expertise: Experience with design, drafting, field verification, installation, documentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving of equipment in a chemical plant environment. General knowledge of mechanical components, including pumps, piping systems, valves, fans, machine design, textile equipment, piping analysis, and chemical process equipment.

  • Project Management: Skills in project management, including capital project support (scope, definition, estimating), and technical field support of mechanical systems and equipment.

  • Documentation and Analysis: Working knowledge of Eastman P&ID and Mechanical/Piping documentation. Excellent analysis and communication skills to interpret manufacturing requests and convey technical solutions.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Work Environment Adaptability: Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments.
