Responsibilities

In this role, you will work closely with Capital Project Managers, Process Engineering, Plant Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Reliability and Construction field teams as it pertains to piping. You will provide support to Eastman Tennessee Operations (TNO) and other Eastman global sites.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge and experience in ASME B31 Piping Design codes to develop new and consult on existing Eastman piping line class specifications

  • Serve as piping lead for capital projects, including FEL stage preliminary pipe stress analysis

  • Participate in daily Mechanical Integrity Piping (MIP) data analysis and troubleshooting (failure analysis, fitness-for-service, etc.), working with operations and maintenance for reliability improvement

  • Support continual improvement of Mechanical Integrity (MI) technologies and procedures for thickness monitoring, visual inspection, Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) and evaluation of other damage mechanisms

  • Provide pipe stress analysis in support of Plant Engineering needs, MI inspection efforts and development of mitigation or design plans

  • Support piping inspection deficiency resolutions

  • Serve as primary piping engineering resource for inspection/field/execution forces, utilizing API, ASME and other industry codes associated with piping in conjunction with Eastman standards and practices

  • Verify that proper information is captured in databases for future analysis and compliance audits, ensuring that reporting is value-adding and comprehensive

  • Participate in piping related incident investigations and reports actionable items back to MIP program. Communicates incident learnings to appropriate site technical resources.

  • Serve as primary piping engineering resource for Division/Department/Site specific piping asset integrity programs

  • Lead assessments of site piping integrity programs and assists sites with developing gap closure plans

  • Serve as technical field resource for piping installation, procedures and implementation of standards (bolted joints, engineered supports, expansion joints, welding, examination/testing, etc.)

  • Assist sites with industry QA/QC processes and procedures, contractor and vendor/shop qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is required. Mechanical Engineering highly preferred. PE License a plus.

  • Three or more years of experience with Piping Engineering is preferred

  • Knowledge of industrial piping and piping systems

  • Experience with piping analysis software (i.e., Caesar II, NozzlePRO, etc.) a plus

  • Familiarity with Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques and methods

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational skills, visualization and hands-on experience

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment
