Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model for safe work practices and actively participate in safety programs

  • Complete duties in a safe and code compliant manner

  • Perform electrical technologist level work in Utilities Power Distribution Group and Powerhouses

  • Involved in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, Asset Integrity efforts and ongoing improvements of electrical systems and equipment in assigned area

  • Partners closely with operations, maintenance, manufacturing supervision, contract engineering, project engineers, project managers, construction forces, Utilities Staff and members of Plant Engineering staff to assist manufacturing areas in meeting maintenance and production objectives.

  • Support manufacturing division in the design and installation of various electrical projects including: engineering studies, electrical equipment/instrument specification and selection, capital project support, project estimating, technical field support of electrical field systems and equipment, project scope documentation, maintenance of high voltage equipment and power distribution equipment, wiring and motor circuit installations, instrumentation selection and installation design, basic programming of relaying, system checkout, network configuration, root cause analysis, support of thorough in-depth maintenance practices

  • Initiate MOCs for process improvements

  • Learns and works with digital tools such as ProjectWise, PI, SharePoint, PowerBI, GEAPM & Microsoft Office suite

  • Makes sketches and determines rough cost estimates for equipment upgrades or changes

  • Reads P&IDs, electrical elementary and single line drawings

  • Creates training modules in support of EODx initiatives and assist in instruction, performance assessment and recertification of new Power Distribution operators

  • Maintains database of training required for Power Distribution and ensure employees remain certified

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for training materials

  • Be knowledgeable in life critical processes and process safety ground rules

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or significant relevant experience required

  • Experience with design, drafting, field installation, verification, checkout, documentation, troubleshooting and problem solving in an industrial environment

  • Good personal communication and people skills, as interaction with operations and maintenance personnel occurs daily

  • Must be customer-focused, self-motivated and goal-oriented

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, while coordinating with multiple disciplines

  • Basic computer skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database type programs

  • Experience with Medium Voltage (13.8kV) and higher voltage electrical work is desirable

  • Familiarity with power and transmission is desirable

  • Familiarity with the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, NFPA 70B Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance and NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace is desirable

  • Experience with successful change management practices, such as ADKAR, is desirable
