Responsibilities
As a Rotating Equipment Engineer, you'll support efforts in Eastman manufacturing plants to improve process and equipment reliability. You'll be assigned to the Machinery Analysis Team and work with maintenance, operations and reliability personnel to identify, prioritize and execute improvement opportunities and achieve reliability, failure elimination and cost reduction goals.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Partner closely with area operations to improve equipment availability and process reliability reducing unplanned production losses
Provide engineered solutions to complex problems that increase equipment and process reliability
Work closely with area maintenance to target reliability and maintainability issues, reduce cost and improve productivity
Provide support for plant outages and shutdowns as requested
Support initiatives in assigned area
Identify and prioritize opportunities for reliability improvements by mining information from SAP, reliability systems and production logs
Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations
Lead FMEA analyses on critical production assets
Provide reliability input to capital projects as requested
Provide technical leadership at all levels of the plant organization with special emphasis on interfacing with maintenance crews
Lead problem solving teams to identify, design and implement improvements
Work safely and promote the Eastman safety vision
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Experience working with rotating equipment is a plus
Strong basic engineering skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly motivated, self-directed and able to manage own project portfolio
Desire to work in the field with mechanics and operators in response to urgent critical equipment troubleshooting
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
Effective group facilitation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and lead cross-functional working teams
Basic knowledge of common process equipment (pumps, fans, agitators, motors, etc.)
Basic knowledge of mechanical and power transmission components
Basic understanding of common predictive and diagnostic technologies for rotating equipment
Service-oriented and customer-focused
Desire to learn new skills in reliability engineering principles, SAP, root cause failure analysis methods and become expert in rotating equipment knowledge
Strong commitment to personnel and process safety
