  • Leads sourcing activities for control systems (distributive control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC)) and instrumentation categories of spend, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels.

  • Applies a standard procurement framework to strategic categories, to identify and understand all internal and external market assessments and strategic choices across all commercial, specification and demand levers.

  • Drives all aspects of strategic procurement effort, including deployment of strategy and governance mechanisms to minimize value leakage.

  • Works closely with key stakeholders in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.

  • Provides market insights to the commercial teams around supply, demand, forecast, and pricing trends in material markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own knowledge of market and provide update to commercial teams to support decision making.

  • Capture savings across commercial, specification and demands levers of sourcing.

  • Conduct supplier selection and negotiation process.

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key spend categories, managing all elements of change management required for new strategy.

  • Track performance within each spend category and define impact.

  • Monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance.

  • Drive best practices.

  • Monitor material market for changes.

  • Uphold internal and external policies, regulations, and laws.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement category strategies.

  • Initiate, develop, negotiate, and maintain contracts with suppliers.

  • Develop and lead supplier relationship teams to drive continuous performance improvements.

Key Organizational Relationship: Reports to: Sourcing Director Other Key Relationships: Customers (Worldwide Engineering and Construction, Global Technology), Procurement Representatives, and Category Managers in other categories.


  • BS or BA required (MBA preferred).

  • Successful, multi-year track record in Procurement, specific to control systems and instrumentation.

  • Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation acumen and ability to converse with technical stakeholders.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills (multiple complex analyses simultaneously).

  • Good planning/project management skills.

  • Strong negotiating skills.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Passion for reducing costs and ability to think outside the box.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Comfortable with conflict.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
