This Application Development/Support position working within Caterpillar's Energy & Transportation (E&T IT) Test Cell Center of Expertise (COE), supporting the Large Power Services Division (LPSD), organization will be responsible for applying and integrating technologies or engine test automation tools, Oracle, and Python Scripting required to support engine test cells across LPSD. Candidate will perform implementation, integration, and support tasks for both developed or purchased software solutions. Knowledge of full software development lifecycle from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. We seek a purposeful collaborator willing to work on sometimes tight schedules, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Candidate must also be an initiative-taker and possess strong initiative/willingness to understand business processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with global business partners, internal and external IT service providers, and multiple levels of senior management through multisite Test Cell strategy and execution.

  • Candidate will be required to develop, integrate, and support engine test automation tools.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to other support team members or work independently on support issues.

  • Provide advisement on related infrastructure components and/or operating environment.

  • Conduct analysis and problem solving related to test cell environment.

  • Troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues.

  • Understand test cell technology application problem identification and resolution, including off-shift and weekend support functions.

  • Provide facility maintenance with connection diagnostics.

  • Support Engine Control Module communications between engine and cell.

  • Advise regarding functionality between engine testing tools and other cell systems (PLC, Cell Sensors).

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering fields.

  • Advanced experience in each of the following: Information technology or engine engineering, or manufacturing Engine test cell hardware/software technology.

  • Backend infrastructure (server, storage, database, network.

  • Familiarity with testing both Gas and Diesel engines.

  • Familiarity with the setup and control of Emissions devices (Sensors/Benches).

  • Familiarity with Generator Set Testing.

  • Advanced experience with iTest or any other engine testing tools, Oracle, and python testing technologies.

  • Familiarity with Sensor Technologies (Pressure Transducers, Thermocouples, Strain Gages).

  • Excellent written and oral communications.​

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering fields.

  • Enterprise and Technical Architecture understanding.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Strong collaboration skills.

  • Self-driven with an elevated level of initiative.

Additional Info:

  • The primary locations for this position: Lafayette, Indiana

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available.

  • MUST BE WILLING TO RELOCATE TO THIS LOCATION AND work 3 – 4 days in office.

  • This position may require 10% travel.
