Job summary:

As a member of the Power Systems and Controls Development team within LPSD, you will be serving as an experienced individual contributor, working in a fast-paced environment to develop Caterpillar engine systems for use in CAT Machines, Electric Power, Industrial, Oil &Gas, and Marine applications.

The primary responsibilities will include contributing to LPSD’s EUV In-Service Monitoring (ISM) program and certification process for LPSD gas, diesel, and dual fuel engines. You will be expected to provide regular updates to management and technical leadership on the status of programs and process changes. You must be able to develop strong peer relationships and collaborate with global teams.

What you will do:

  • Engine Development - Collaborate with platform teams, product support, commercial product groups, testing supplier, dealers, and customers.

  • Develop engine rating development goals that meet regulatory and internal requirements

  • Create and deliver technical reports including describing Auxiliary Emissions Control Devices (AECD)

  • Communicate technical information to customers and internal technical leadership and management

  • Collaborate with a global team across multiple functional areas

Skills you must have:

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Extensive understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in an accredited engineering curriculum

Top candidates will also have:

  • Technical knowledge and experience in engine development: testing, calibration, simulation, controls, or design

  • Experience writing engineering reports or certification documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to make priority decisions while working multiple projects simultaneously

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in an accredited engineering curriculum
