Project Overview:
Driftwood LNG LLC is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. The Lead Civil Field Engineer will have significant experience in bulk earthworks (site preparation), excavation, concrete and structural steel installation, preferably on a major Energy (previously Oil & Gas) project.
This position also entails other civil field engineering related to the construction of temporary facilities, fencing, office buildings, underground utilities, site drainage, temporary and permanent access roads. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
Oversight of the civil sitework, concrete and structural installation, including temporary facilities and utilities installation
Setup of the standard progress and measuring tools.
Development and review subcontractor’s overall execution plan and ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans)
Provide technical assistance to the Civil and Temporary Facilities Superintendents.
Perform inspections and documentation of all civil work in progress on a continuing basis.
Execute field take-offs from IFC drawings, provide input to quantity tracking applications, and report weekly installed quantities.
Prepares material requisitions for permanent and temporary materials.
Assists field procurement in inspection and receipt of materials.
Develops and applies construction procedures that may be unique and innovative to resolve complex and challenging problems that may arise.
Problem resolution and inspection of subcontractor work.
Manage and track the civil, concrete and structural disciplines quantities.
Work with the surveying team to coordinate work schedules to stay ahead of construction and the program.
Work with assigned suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
Coordinate and review vendor/subcontractor drawings.
Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the project's schedule.
Coordinate and review the testing of materials to support the construction schedule.
Problem resolution and inspection of field installations
Resolve design issues with Home Office Engineering.
Submittal of FCD and NCR documents.
Respond to subcontractor’s RFI (Request for Information).
Supervise Civil Field Engineering team.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
Must have strong technical understanding and practical construction experience in civil/geotechnical engineering.
Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable
Must have previous experience liaising with and coordinating subcontractors on site.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Knowledge of AWS welding codes and standards
Knowledge of US building codes and standards is a must.
Knowledge of Bechtel organization and roles
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
Good working knowledge of Teamwork’s, Tekla and 3D Model Viewer
Must be able to do field inspections
Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
