The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Lab Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

As the Associate Specialist, Procurement , you’ll execute global procurement support for ADD Global Purchasing Category Managers. Provide support in managing supplier relationships, pricing, PO adjustments, invoice resolution, purchasing document verification and contracting. Work closely with suppliers, category managers and global operations to improve the quality, specifications and value of goods procured. Analyze and communicate supplier key performance indicators and support risk management for the supply base. Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels. Analyze supply chain related opportunities; take a broad perspective to identify and deliver solutions, drive change. Travel up to 10%.

What You’ll Work On

  • First line responder; pivot between strategic, operational, and transactional support.

  • Manage supply continuity against procurement strategies.

  • Proactively seek innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs and customer service level

  • Analyze possible solutions to supply shortage using standard procedures. Communicate pertinent information to both internal customers and suppliers to keep apprised and to prevent problems.

  • Assist category managers in category strategy development and execution through analysis, supplier capability research & development of category purchasing trends.

  • Support Purchase Order conversion, changes and adjustments, supplier documentation requests, supplier verification and invoice error resolution.

  • Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide supporting documentation for purchases.

  • Exhibit cultural awareness with foreign business entities of internal/external customers and suppliers.

  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain business relationships with suppliers, clients, and customers.

  • Run, evaluate, and maintain supplier reports.

  • Generates purchase orders based on manufacturing schedules and routine business supply matters according to pre-established processes and procedures.

  • Plans and schedules deliveries of components to optimize inventories and support production schedules.

  • Works with suppliers to maintain supplies to minimize shortages of supplies and manage appropriate levels of safety stock.

  • Coordinates the return of damaged goods, replacement items or credit arrangements with the help of senior staff.

  • Arranges for vendor corrective action and work with SQE and supplier to improve quality, with the help of senior purchasing employees.

  • Monitors suppliers and track their performance, working with senior purchasing team members to resolve non-conforming product issues.

  • Generates basic reports to keep the business moving forward.

  • Works with inventory control/warehouse management to resolve issues.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Finance OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum 1 year In Supply Chain

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous procurement or customer service experience

  • Microsoft office and SAP functionality

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is $48,000.00 – $96,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
