What You’ll Work On

Abbott Core Diagnostics has an opening for a Senior Financial Analyst - R&D FP&A at our Lake Forest, Illinois location. This individual is the financial partner and counsel to R&D - System's Development, Professional Services, and QA. This position participates in strategic initiatives and provides financial information which enables timely and effective decision making. This role has full responsibility for the planning and execution of key financial processes across the R&D areas it supports, including Plan, RLBEs, Confirmations, Actuals Reporting, etc. In addition, this role is responsible for developing ad hoc analytics and reporting as requested by Division, Corporate and/or R&D Leadership as needed.

Main responsibilities include :

  • Support the development of the annual Plan for System’s Development, Professional Services, and QA. Coordinate with PMO to understand and incorporate R&D Long Range Portfolio and Commercial prioritization when developing the annual Plan. Support preparation of the Division Plan Review Book and all required Division/Corporate schedules.

  • Develop quarterly RLBE and Confirmations for System’s Development, Professional Services, and QA. Develop timely and accurate P&L and BS forecasts for R&D spend. Understand and communicate key forecast assumptions and potential material risks and opportunities to the forecasts. Actively participate in RLBE and Confirmation reviews with R&D Controller. Prepare schedules and commentary required for Division submission.

  • Develop and distribute monthly actuals reporting package. Prepare R&D VP Staff Meeting and VP monthly review packages. Prepare and/or review other monthly financial results presentations for each R&D organization as needed. Review and ensure timely submission of R&D actuals and required commentary to Division.

  • Assume a significant leadership role in the identification, development and implementation of financial policies and procedures across the R&D organization. Identify and implement creative solutions to complex financial challenges in an environment of changing business needs. Provide financial counsel to R&D business partners and prepare ad hoc analyses as required.

  • Maintain the effectiveness of and ensure compliance with Internal Controls. Ensure SOX compliance. Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.

  • Operate independently with broad scope of responsibility under minimal supervision and underchallenging time constraints

  • Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with all levels of the organization

  • Apply knowledge of financial processes, accounting methodologies and Division specific operations to lead complex planning processes and to support related systems and functions

  • Facilitate interpretation and understanding of data, identify risks, develop recommendations and implement solutions

  • Form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionallyappropriate behavior

  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, analytical skills and critical-thinking skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting or finance

  • 3-5 years of finance experience to include roles of increasing responsibility in accounting and/or finance.

  • Strong Excel skills

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with TM1 & SAP

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
