The Publix Summer Internship Program prepares a cohort of young professionals for a smorgasbord of opportunity in the workplace through relationship building, development of self-confidence, and insight into industry knowledge.

Since the inception of the program in 2007, Publix empowers interns to share, lead, and implement their creative ideas, projects, and unique contributions towards our organization and the communities we serve.

Over the course of 10 weeks, interns are immersed in consequential department projects which allow them to apply academic concepts learned in the classroom to a real-world, corporate setting. The intern cohort participates in several exclusive events including meeting with Publix executives, volunteering in a local community service event, touring manufacturing and distribution facilities, and giving an end-of-summer presentation to Publix leaders. This summer, the program will occur from May 19 through July 25 at our company facilities in Lakeland, Florida. Interns are offered competitive pay and are generally expected to work onsite 40 hours per week, although this varies by department. Additionally, we partner with Florida Southern College to provide free housing for our out-of-town interns.

Position Overview

The Marketing Project Management Office is responsible for managing marketing campaigns using project management knowledge and principles to actively manage campaigns against defined objectives and goals. We are problem solvers that continuously mitigate project development and execution risks by developing solutions and maintaining communication with internal and external project stakeholders and suppliers on project status, resourcing, and opportunities to ensure projects meet objectives and are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Within the department, the intern will have several responsibilities.

What you’ll do

  • manage Marketing campaigns supporting advertising, product packaging, and/or store environment under the supervision of a seasoned project manager

  • support project managers in managing schedules and milestones

  • execute campaign and project audits to ensure compliance

  • utilize project management system (MRM) and Microsoft Office products to perform related duties in support of project efforts, including project workflows, timelines, and schedule monitoring and adjustments

  • support project meetings by scheduling meetings, assist with project communication, document meeting minutes, recaps and project action/task items

  • attend stakeholder meetings to help coordinate campaign and project needs as requested

  • manage all projects assigned and work with internal teams as needed

  • ensure a consultative and professional approach to all project management tasks

  • escalate issues as appropriate to the Marketing Project Management Office leadership

  • help coordinate development, integration, and production tasks with relevant teams internally

Required Qualifications:

  • must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or

  • if graduating from a bachelor's degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or

  • if graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester)

  • must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or Project Management and be a current sophomore or above (rising junior or above as of the program start in Summer 2025) or a graduate student

  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams

  • excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills

  • understand the project management processes and methodology

  • ability to manage multiple projects start to end, on time

  • ability to learn quickly and manage a high-volume workload

  • ability to handle confidential matters

  • adeptness at building authentic relationships with various stakeholders

  • highly organized and able to prioritize workload effectively

  • extremely motivated and dedicated with great attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ability to be proactive versus reactive
