POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Surgical Technologist functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs delegated functions. The successful candidate will: * Assumes responsibility to assist the surgeon by preparing and handling instruments, supplies, and equipment to maintain an aseptic environment through specific techniques and practices. * He/she adheres to policy and procedures, observes Universal Precautions and is responsible for meeting the Standards of Care. * Patient age may be from neonate to geriatric. * Completes a competency skills checklist within 90 days of employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
* Graduate from high school or equivalent program. * Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology. * Current Basic Cardiac Life Support. *LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: * * Current Surgical Technologist Certification required. Current certification by the Liaison Council of Certification of the Association of Surgical Technologist required. * Current certification through NCCT upon hire/transfer is acceptable; however, new hire/transfer employee must convert to certification by the Liaison Council of Certification of the Association of Surgical Technologist within 90 days of hire/transfer at the employee’s own expense.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Minimum 1 year in a health care setting.
* GI lab experience preferred. * Previous surgical tech experience isrequiredfor a per piem/PRN role as there is not a guarantee of hours for training.
