How will you make an impact in this role?
Global Exposure Management team is part of American Express Treasury organization and is responsible for identifying, quantifying and managing market risk exposures, and ensuring compliance with the company’s market risk management strategies and risk tolerance levels. The team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our foreign exchange (FX) and interest rate risk (IRR) management programs. This includes driving our market risk management strategies, recommending investments and hedging activities and ensuring compliance with our risk management policies. The team also participates in various regulatory stress testing exercises, including Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Internal Capital Adequacy Process (ICAAP). This team collaborates with various business partners within the American Express Finance organization, and oversight groups, as well as external parties.
Responsibilities
Manage Treasury Global Exposure Management team
Monitor new market conditions and prepare market risk management (FX and IRR) strategies considering evolving regulations and changes in AXP’s balance sheet activities
Communicate exposure management analysis and provide recommendations to senior management and relevant committees
Perform end-to-end analysis of cross currency exchange (FX) rate risk and recommend hedging actions
Work with asset-liability management, funding and capital market teams on determination of interest rate risk and recommend hedging actions
Coordinate with 2nd line oversight and internal audit teams on exposure management activities and address their inquiries
Organize, prepare and present analysis and discussion at different oversight committees
Develop documentation for non-model tools used for risk management and investment analysis
Participate in firm-wide stress testing (CCAR, ICAAP) analysis
Collaborate with various teams within Treasury, including ALM, Funding, Modeling and Capital Market teams
Requirements
BA or MBA degree with focus on Finance or Accounting
8 years of relevant work experience
Deep knowledge and experience in interest rate risk and exchange rate risk assessment and mitigation activities
Proven hands-on experience in interest rate and FX hedging advisory and execution
Knowledge and experience with cash flow analysis and valuation of financial instruments, including derivatives such as interest rate swap and currency forward contracts
Familiarity with financial statements (balance sheet and income statement)
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Knowledge in scenario analysis and stress testing
Experience in process documentation
Knowledge in database queries (SQL)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Strong analytical skills with attention to details and specifics of each analysis
This role reports to VP, Treasury, ALM and Exposure Management.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
