This is a rare opportunity to work closely alongside our Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) partners to field a number of future strategic systems that the nation urgently needs!
Join the Storied FBM team and help shape and integrate the next generation D5 missile. The successful candidate will serve as technical program lead reporting to the Avionics Director on the D5 Life Extension 2 (D5LE2) program.
• The technical lead for the D5LE2 Avionics organization is responsible for developing the missile avionics architecture and overseeing the engineering of both tactical missile avionics and test missile kit avionics. The individual has the following responsibilities:
• Developing the functional and logical architecture for the missile system.
• Creating the physical architecture for the avionics boxes and their components.
• Conducting architecture trade studies.
• Supporting key design trade studies and decisions.
• Ensuring the successful execution of near-term program milestones, including System Requirements Reviews (SRRs), System Design Reviews (SDRs), and Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) for all tactical and test missile boxes and components.
• Leading follow-on efforts such as the development of Engineering Models, execution of Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), early flight tests, pre-production and full-rate production hardware and software, leading to deployment.
• The Missile Data Bus Research & Development (R&D) project also includes the following:
- Significant collaboration with the customer and co-contractors as well as technology suppliers
- Conducting system level trade studies.
- Exploring ways to maximize flexibility and modularity in support of system level implementation.
Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
You will have regular engagement with the following stakeholders:
• The Navy Customer.
• Co-contractors.
• Other supporting Navy organizations.
• Subcontractors and supplier industry partners.
Your responsibilities include:
• Defining and documenting the architecture and requirements.
• Developing analysis plans.
• Participating in design and documentation reviews.
• Conducting trade studies.
• Reviewing technical documents and analyses.
• Interfacing with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensuring the architecture is maintained throughout the product development lifecycle and requirements compliance is achieved.
• Travel to the various LM Navy Strategic Program facilities, customer, and supplier locations.
Basic Qualifications:
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Previous technical architecture experience on a missile system.
• You will need to be a US Citizen, andcurrently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance,to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills:
To be effective, ideally, you should also have:
• Five years or more experience as a technical lead of a subsystem or electrical component
• Prior missile, guided projectile, or missile defense experience
• Knowledge of space-based survivability impacts due to severe radiation environments and their impact on robust architectures and electronics
• Demonstrated capability to work with other companies and cross functional teams in a formative environment, as evidenced by excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to organize, motivate, and lead a group of diverse personnel that includes customers, partners, and suppliers
• Experience across the engineering development lifecycle, including research & development, requirements decomposition, subsystem architecture and design, implementation, integration, test and verification, and deployment)
• Experience coordinating disciplines to produce design artifacts relating to avionics systems, including block and interface diagrams, system descriptions, technical evaluations, supplier documentation, and basic integration and test plans
• Experience in electrical design and integration, electronic packages, networks, data bus and cable technologies
• Knowledge of a broad set of computer and common aircraft technologies and interfaces (e.g. sensors, mission systems, software designs, avionics databus)
• Strong communication skills, and experience presenting to peers, leadership, and/or customers
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
• Knowledge of LMCO and LM Space programs and command media is highly desirable

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $140,400 - $269,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
