Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s outstanding lines of businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. The Life Extension 2 (LE2) team is an organization within the greater FBM program which supports the development of the Next Generation System by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the development of the next FBM missile system.

As a System Safety Engineer Tech Lead, you will serve as the FBM Program System Safety Engineering subject matter expert, focusing on guiding safety analysis and mentoring the team.

In this role, you will:

• Perform system and subsystem safety in accordance with MIL-STD-882E

• Collaborate with system and subsystem system, design, and test engineering teams to ensure designs/tests comply with safety requirements

• Lead the safety analysis approach across the FBM System Safety Engineering team

• Collaborate across the FBM program integrated product teams (IPTs) to help foster a positive safety culture

• Prepare presentations and participate in proram requirements/design reviews as the system safety engineering subject matter expert.

• Review and provide feedback from the lense of safety into design artifacts, requirement specidications, or test procedures, ensuring they adhere to program safety requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• A minimum of a BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education

• The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing diverse teams of engineers.

• Experience in hardware and software lifecycle

• Must have extensive experience in requirements derivation, decomposition, and verification

• Experience with contractual requirements and their execution throughout the product lifecycle.

• Experience leading diverse engineering teams to identify hazards, assess and mitigate associated risks encountered in the design, development, test, production, use and disposal.

• Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

• Subject matter expert in the System Safety discipline.

• Software Safety experience.

• Experience working in System Safety Working Groups - SSWG, WSESRB, SSSTRP, etc

• Demonstrated experience mentoring and guiding the development of system safety engineers

• Experience developing Basis of Estimates in support of System Safety Efforts

• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to interface with Customer and Program Management

• Demonstrated ability in developing technical baseline for System Safety efforts

• Experience identifying critical hardware & software

• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).

• Active Top Secret clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
