Pfizer Alliance Development Sr. Manager in Los Angeles, California


The Field-Based Alliance Development Sr. Manager (ADM) is a member of the Corporate Affairs organization. As a member of the US Policy and Government Relations team, the ADM is accountable for a multi-state region and responsible for identifying and engaging regional, state, local, and in some instances, national advocates, including, but not limited to, health care provider organizations, patient advocacy organizations, industry and business organizations, multicultural organizations, community groups, think tanks, and other allies in support of Pfizer's federal and state legislative, policy and business priorities.


  • Identify, and manage a portfolio of regional, state, and local relationships with key patient, provider, multicultural, business, community, and civic organizations in a multi-state region for the purpose of defining the policy-affecting positions of those organizations and determining the potential for advocacy by those organizations in support of Pfizer preferred policies.

  • Collaborate with business leaders, state-based field force representatives, account managers, medical directors, and other field-based colleagues across all BUs to seize opportunities that develop advocacy in support of Pfizer's legislative, policy, and business priorities.

  • Brief and engage key stakeholders in a multi-state region on Pfizer preferred policies to expedite mobilization in support of public affairs priorities.

  • Work in partnership with the Alliance Development Director to develop advocacy efforts on a state level to support Pfizer's legislative, policy, and business priorities.

  • Collaborate with the State Government Relations Director and Activation Director responsible for each state to develop advocacy efforts that support and execute Pfizer's legislative agenda.

  • Develop innovative approaches and relationships with state-based ally groups and ensure all programs and grants are aligned with public affairs priorities as defined in the state plan.

  • Participate on BU state support teams, as assigned by the Alliance Director, to advise on the effect of pending or potential public policies on the success of public affairs campaigns; develop strategies and tactics to engage key stakeholders to support Pfizer's public affairs objectives.

  • Role reports to the Alliance Development Director responsible for the region.

Other Job Details:

Must Have:

  • BA/BS Degree required

  • 7+ years of previous experience in alliance development, patient advocacy or government. relations, ideally including involvement with earned media, grassroots and political campaigns or activities

  • Experience working with key thought leaders or advocacy groups

  • Ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on Pfizer BU public affairs priorities.

  • This is a remote position that covers Los Angeles County (and specified surrounding counties) and New Mexico.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Nice to Have:

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred

  • Previous management experience preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work as part of cross-functional teams.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.


  • Ability to communicate complex topics into an understandable short narrative across a range of interested parties.
