Job Description:

This position manages flight operations, provides support to the ASC CORE, Aircraft Maintenance Control and SDF operations representing the UPS Director of Flight Operations and the UPS System Chief Pilot. This position is responsible for adhering to flight operations policies and procedures in domestic and international operations. This position also acts as a focal point to support operating crewmembers representing the UPS System Chief Pilot. This position may involve direct supervision of UPS Captains and First Officers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with CORE Team members for safe, efficient airline operations and to ensure day-to-day operations are conducted in a timely and proficient manner.

  • Monitors and manages issues that may cause flight delays/cancellations that will impact service. Gathers initial data and reports on all flight operations delays. Conducts initial delay investigations and ensures information is distributed to the appropriate divisions/departments for assessment and mitigation, as required. Collaborates with operation centers (e.g., Global Operations Center, regional ops centers, domicile chief pilot’s offices, etc.) to manage day-to-day flight operations.

  • Coordinates with Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Operations for NRFO operations (ferry flights, functional check flights, etc.) to ensure aircraft are in compliance with regulatory requirements and safe for operation.

  • Represents the System and Domicile Chief Pilots to support crewmembers operating in the system on the Daily Ops 24x7 contact numbers.

  • Discusses objectives and crewmember performance issues with Domicile Chief Pilots and administrative staff to determine strategies for process improvement.

  • Coordinates the disposition of, and evaluates fitness of, crewmembers involved in flight safety events. Involves conducting the SOS (Stressful Occurrence Support), as required, and coordination with appropriate Domicile Chief Pilots.

  • Interacts with Line Crewmembers to address immediate concerns, e.g., delays, work conditions, etc. and provide action and feedback to maintain maximum productivity levels.

  • Collects initial data following incidents involving aircraft and/or crewmembers (e.g., tail strikes, crewmember emergency, safety issues, etc.) to ensure sufficient information is available for effective flight / safety investigations and to comply with safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Communicates with support agencies (e.g., gateways, catering, etc.) to resolve service issues (e.g., incorrect meals, incorrect number of meals, late deliveries, etc.) to maintain on-time performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Captain in FAA Part 121 Operations and UPS Flight Operations experience and/or experience working in an airline operations center or military command post

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
