2024 Spring Mechanical Engineer Intern (May-August)
Navico Group is a stand-alone division of Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business.
Navico Group, a division of Brunswick, is the world's leading manufacturer of marine accessories for the boating industry, including a wide range of seating, hardware, fuel systems, navigational lighting, water systems, and other electro-mechanical components.
We are seeking Engineering Co-ops to join our team in Lowell, MI.
These positions will support the development of MotorGuide Trolling Motors and Navico Group Products which are developed and launched in our Lowell, MI facility.
A leading candidate for this position will be passionate in their desire to facilitate Navico Group's mission of: Making life on the water easier to enjoy by developing and delivering high value marine products and being the best-in-class supplier to boat builders and distribution partners.
Responsibilities of this position varies depending on your area of concentration each semester. These concentrations and responsibilities will include:
Test Lab Engineering Intern
· Mentorship from seasoned Lab Technicians
· Assist in incoming and receiving tests
· Assist in product validation
· Test and analyze products and system data
· Execute test plans for product validation
· Design and fabricate test fixtures
Design Engineering Intern
· Mentorship from seasoned Mechanical Engineers
· Concept and design mechanical components used in Navico Group products
· Building, testing, and analyzing system data
· On-water product testing
· Design and 3D modeling for new and current product
· Participate in team prototype builds
· Fabricate prototype components or test fixtures utilizing a drawing or other instruction
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, PDM or a related field and 2+ years of higher education is preferred.
Candidates must have:
Good interpersonal skills
The ability to coordinate numerous projects in a professional and ethical manner
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred
Hands on, hand and power tools experience is preferred
Boating, fishing and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required.
