BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking a Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) Materials Process Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Supports production operations as the technical lead and subject matter expert for development engineering with Silicide for Research Test Reactors (RTR).
Troubleshoots and analyzes production and quality issues. Identifies and implements solutions.
Coordinates job order information for production/development activities.
Writes and updates operational procedures and technical reports.
Develops equipment functional specifications and follows the BWXT established change management and safety evaluation processes for equipment installation projects.
Identifies and collaborates with vendors in procuring raw materials.
Responds to customer inquiries.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics plus seven (7) years of relevant experience is required. Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical, or Nuclear disciplines preferred.
Must possess at least four (4) years of development experience.
Background in metals/alloys and metal matrix composites preferred..
Demonstrable skills and knowledge of CAD software, preferably Solid Edge, preferred.
Must be highly self-motivated and directed, able to work independently, results oriented, and have a keen attention to detail.
Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
