BWXT is currently seeking a UPRR Quality Assurance Engineer and Auditor for its Lynchburg, VA location!

Job Description/Duties:

  • Leads internal and external audits to confirm technical, quality, and compliance to requirements, thus ensuring the quality of BWXT products and services.

  • Prepares audit vendor schedules.

  • Creates audit plans through detailed analysis of previous issues, current performance, and requirements.

  • Evaluates supplier manufacturing and quality processes.

  • Writes audit summary reports documenting the results for distribution to senior managers and customers.

  • Initiates and reviews corrective actions ensuring findings are resolved quickly.

  • Leads reviews of contract technical requirements and manufacturing code specifications, evaluate situation and incorporates quality and mathematical techniques.

  • Creates plans and procedures to meet contract specifications.

  • Conducts tasks within project technical teams to ensure on time delivery of reports and products to customers.

  • Applies understanding of manufacturing technology, technical process specifications, Engineering/Quality policies and procedures to meet customer needs and satisfy contract requirements.

  • Interprets technical specifications, conducts meetings, interfaces with customers, vendors, and other department representatives, and prepares cost estimates.

  • Reviews technical drawings and compliance tasks to ensure the product satisfies all drawing requirements.

  • Writes and revises procedures.

  • Identifies and evaluates trends.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.   • Must possess at least four (4) years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of NQA-1 and ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements required.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must be able to read and accurately interpret technical documents.

  • American Society of Quality Certified Quality Audit (ASQ CQA) certification is preferred.

  • Possess effective skills in leadership, demonstrated ability to effectively use of verbal and written communication, teamwork, time management, and planning.

  • Previous knowledge of and/or experience with machining and assembly type manufacturing process preferred.

  • Previous experience in the nuclear or defense industry is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of various quality control techniques used to analyze, trend, and improve product quality preferred.

  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
