What will you do?

A day in the life of a Controller at VF looks a little like this.

As part of VF North America Accounting team, this position is responsible for the financial statements of multiple brands. The Brand Controller will be accountable for providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data for the specified brands within the VF North America region.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Achieves financial objectives by managing monthly and year-end closing process for the specified brand(s); analyzing expense variances and account reconciliations; initiating corrective action.

  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends. Maintains accurate brand financial statements consistent with North America reporting guidelines and in accordance with GAAP.

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

  • Provides appropriate and complete financial analysis and documentation behind account information and activity. Documents financial transaction by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing monthly results.

  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Identifies opportunities for improvements in financial procedures and controls and leads implementation.

  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.

  • Support brand management in analyzing and understanding financial variances. Provide recommendations to management and Brand FPA leads from the financial analyses performed. Provide brand analysis to help understand margin and profit trends of the business, with supporting recommendations to management. Identifies cost savings opportunities from financial transaction analysis performed and leads initiatives to implement improvements.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking best practices; participating in professional societies. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising senior management on needed action.

  • Responsible for leading and developing a team including recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure environment; developing personal growth opportunities. Mentors accounting staff by providing individual guidance and technical expertise. Accomplishes accounting department staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Works with technology team and corporate accounting as brands expand distribution channels and geographic presence to ensure proper set up and capturing of new activities.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills as well as education you’ll need to succeed and excel. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field as well as 10 years of experience (3 in leadership).

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Excellent PC and technical systems skills; SAP experience; Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and working knowledge of regulatory accounting standards (GAAP).

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels inside and outside VF North America.

  • Location requirement: While this position is fully remote, the ideal candidate will reside within Wisconsin to better support the team.

There are also a few certifications and skills that are not required but preferred.

  • Master’s Degree and CPA.

  • Manufacturing or consumer products experience.

Hiring Range :

$108,000.00 USD - $135,000.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
