This position will engage a scientist to perform process development for antibody processes within the API-Proteins group. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include leading and participating in the design of experiments, completing the planned experiments, and optimizing the process steps to the target process scale. This will include laboratory and occasional pilot-scale scale bioreactors and downstream processing. The Scientist will be responsible for the design and execution of development studies to identify and resolve appropriate ranges of (critical) process parameters for cell culture and/or downstream processing to optimize growth and product production. Candidate will record and analyze experimental data, verify data integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project team, and also draft technical documents and perform technology transfer to collaboration partners. He/She/They is encouraged to work in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives.


  • A PhD in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences or Biochemistry (or equivalent) with 0-3 years of Post-Doctoral experience.

  • OR

  • Currently in a PhD program with an anticipated graduation / completed degree by Summer/Fall, 2022

  • OR

  • BS degree with at least 8 or more years or MS with 6 years of proven experience is required

  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience in one of the following areas is required: Mammalian cell culture, bioreactors, bioreactor process development, and bioreactor data analysis

  • AND/OR

  • Downstream processing and purification of antibodies, in particular chromatography and filtration is required.

  • Familiarity with and hands-on experience with analytical methods typically used in the manufacture and characterization of recombinant proteins is preferred

  • Experience with Technical Transfer to manufacturing sites is preferred

  • It is encouraged that She/He/They be highly organized and capable of pursuing multiple projects with some supervision, preferred

  • Good written and verbal communication skills are required

  • Experience maintaining written records of work in the form of laboratory notebooks (paper or electronic) is required

  • The ability to report data, present findings to management is required

  • Experience with team-based collaborations is required

  • Occasional weekend work is required
