BAE Systems in Manassas, VA is looking for a Facilities Mechanic who is capable of the following:

  • Installs and maintains a wide variety of pumps, blowers, motors, machine shop and other mechanical equipment.

  • Erects and secures staging, hoists and rigging in compliance with codes and safety practices.

  • Fabricates and installs hangers, brackets and other securing devices to secure equipment as necessary. Shims and balances equipment as necessary. Uses welding, cutting and other equipment as required.

  • Performs a variety of complex masonry work required to maintain or extend building use.

  • Schedules and plans fertilizing, mowing, pruning and other related ground maintenance activities.

  • Oversees the installation and movement of a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment using special tools and equipment such as staging, hoists and rigging.

  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.

  • Basic knowledge of sheet rock replacement or repair.

  • Assist with Modular & Systems Furniture Moves.

  • Repair toilets and urinals facets as needed.

  • Replace lights as needed.

  • Repair or Replace ceiling tiles as needed.

  • Provide General maintenance in the facility (adjust and oil doors, carpet repairs, hang signage, etc.).

  • Set up for major events as needed.

  • Escorting vendors.

  • Works from blueprints, equipment drawings and schematics, manufacturers specifications and literature. Plans complex jobs, selects materials and equipment for proper completion.

  • Ensures that the performance of these activities are well documented.

  • Collects, sorts and stores hazardous waste material in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

  • May be required to clean and service equipment that may contain hazardous substances and to participate in the sorting and accumulation of hazardous waste materials in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

  • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site.This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Requires a High School or Trade School diploma or its equivalent and at least five (5) years of general maintenance experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Requires a High School or Trade School diploma or its equivalent and at least five (5) years of general maintenance experience.

Troubleshooting devices, making necessary repairs/modifications

Moving equipment around and set up

Assist with Modular & Systems Furniture Moves and set up

Wiring, plumbing, assembly etc. of older equipment upgrades and installing new equipment

Working with equipment manufacturers

Sourcing and chasing down components

Calibrating equipment as needed

Performing and tracking equipment maintenance and plans, lockout/tagout activity

Set up for major events as needed

Do touch ups around the site as needed

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $62810 - $100540

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
