Position Description:

Job Overview:

Generally expected to work as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers team. This job is responsible for performing a full range of specialized coating projects by applying a full range of specialized coating through the operation of paint spraying equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and obtain pertinent information from shop order and shop drawings regarding painting requirements.

  • Set-up and operate spray paint systems and pressure-pot spray systems to apply prime coat paint and top coat paints. Work with solvents, cleaners, paints and coatings.

  • Move components by operating an overhead crane, using safe work habits.

  • Assists in prepping components, sanding and reworking paint.

  • Verifies specifications by conducting a self-inspection.

  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following operating procedures.

  • Resolves paint problems by adjusting processes to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.

  • Document actions by completing production, quality and time forms.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Wear proper personal protective equipment.

  • Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing relating results as needed.

    Ancillary Duties:

  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall operations of the XL Specialized Trailers.

    Supervision Received:

    Works under direct supervision. The employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment, keeping the supervisor informed of progress and potential problems or future implications.

    Licensing and Certification:

    None required

    Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • One year industrial painting experience.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven ability to painting equipment

  • Basic understanding of shop math

  • Ability to read blueprints, specification and follow procedures

  • Attention to quality and pride in workmanship.

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at an organizational level.

  • Commitment to company values.

    Physical Demands:

  • Extended periods of standing.

  • Frequent crouching, kneeling, bending and stooping.

  • Occasional ascending/descending stairs or ladder.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling.

  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100lbs.

  • Ability to wear respirator

  • Ability to work overtime including Saturdays

    Work Environment:

    Work is primarily performed indoors.
