Pfizer Manager, GCS Data Science Lead in Manhattan, New York

ROLE SUMMARY

Global Clinical Supply (GCS) manages the execution of supply chain strategies to deliver Investigational Medicinal Product to patients involved in Pfizer's clinical research trials across the globe. The Data Science Lead provides data reporting, data visualization and data modeling across the entire GCS organization. For this position candidates will need to be a creative problem solver and have a strong commitment to quality to successfully deliver optimal data related solutions. As part of the Data Strategy and Analytics team, this role, understands GCS business line requirements, and delivers prioritized business use cases through ad-hoc situational analyses and departmental data analytics and reporting projects. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Applying data mining, data transformation and data analytics to develop statistical/optimization models.

  • Creating meaningful data visualization or outputs files and communicate findings with stakeholders.

  • Interpret results and communicate them to technical and non-technical audiences, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.

  • Develop approaches to turn goals into data driven solutions that use advanced analytic tools to drive decisions with velocity

  • Design, build and deploy predictive and prescriptive models using statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with assigned GCS line(s) to absorb, understand, translate, and deliver analytics and reporting needs.

  • As part of the Data Analytics and Reporting team, review and align to prioritized workload mix of project driven deliverables and ad-hoc requests for GCS lines.

  • Interface with Digital staff and vendors.

  • Develop analytic models using skills such as data wrangling, algorithm design, prototype development & deployment.

  • Support cross-function teams on Supply Chain Complexity decisions with insights gained from analytics tools and visualization from the data.

  • Make recommendations for reporting improvements and optimization by analyzing and interpreting past results, performing variance analysis and identifying trends.

  • Guide teams through problem assessment, data identification and development of solutions.

  • Proactively make recommendations and collaborate cross-functionally as required to drive solutions across the finish line.

  • Develop data queries leveraging SQL, create workflows in Alteryx to aggregate data as needed to support business requests.

  • Drive analytics requests to leverage the GCS Data Marketplace and work with Technical Execution Team to add data sources where needed through the User Defined Data Marketplace.

  • Solve complex supply chain and logistic challenges using analytic algorithms and AI

  • Design, build and deploy predictive and prescriptive models using statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization

  • Support GCS Data Marketplace system testing, reporting, and monitoring efforts.

  • Provide Article write-ups for developed solutions to populate GCS Data Catalog driving Data Re-use and enabling user data discovery across existing analytics solutions.

  • Lead small to medium size analytics / visualization projects.

  • Document tasks, issues and resolutions using designated tracking tools, as applicable.

  • Continuously improve understanding of business and client processes.

  • Create and implement team training materials &/or tools

  • Have a strong understanding of system development life cycle, computer system validation and GxP requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in statistics, computer science, data sciences, supply chain or related field from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • 5-10 plus years of proven experience with reporting tools, software, and other applications (like Data Catalog), including but not limited to SQL, Alteryx, Alation, Pipeline Pilot, Spotfire, Tableau

  • Excellent Excel skills- Pivot tables, etc. to rapidly prototype solutions

  • Considerable exposure to the operation and analysis of relational database software and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies.

  • Comfortable working with a global team, partners, and customers in a change agile environment

  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations

  • Demonstrated skills in analysis and problem solving

  • Knowledge and experience working in a GMP / GCP environment

  • Experience and understanding of system validation / software development lifecycle

  • Comfortable preparing and presenting ideas and information in a variety of settings

  • Must have strong inter-personal and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Data Catalog tools like Alation

  • Experience with Database query (SQL), business analysis and technical writing skills a plus

  • Skilled in working across multiple systems and processes for issue resolution desired

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Management and analysis of large data sets from various source systems

  • Ability to assess, balance and articulate business data needs vs. any system constraints and identify innovative solutions

  • Able to articulate information, findings and complex data solutions concisely and with clarity to senior management

  • Understanding of transactional data & flows across systems, data mapping and hierarchy concepts, and management reporting

  • Data Analysis skills; Proficiency in analytic languages and frameworks such as Python, R; Proficient with SQL and Visualization solutions including Spotfire and Tableau.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel is limited to approximately 15% for this role

  • May require after hours support

  • May include international travel
