Research Engineer (3M CRPL Rapid Prototyping Center)

The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs an Research Engineer within the Rapid Prototyping Center of the Corporate Research Process Laboratory (CRPL), you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Advancing the mission of the 3M Rapid Prototyping Center within 3M CRPL

• Operating a variety of 3D printing and other additive manufacturing equipment to rapidly create quality prototype parts to support 3M technology, new products, and manufacturing efforts

• Fulfilling a wide range of 3M internal customer requests for part prototyping, with rapid turnaround time

• Collaborating with a wide range of counterparts in Divisions, Enterprise Operations and CRL to drive opportunities and meet customer needs

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Demonstrated experience with the operation and usage of 3D printers, including printing and post-processing of parts

• Demonstrated experience in servicing and troubleshooting 3D printers or related process equipment

• Track record in the translation of inventions and ideas into high-value physical prototypes

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task various projects

• Interest in serving within a vital technical service organization within 3M’s R&D community

Work Location: on site in Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $79,828 - $97,567, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
