This position is for the Simulation & System Test (SST) Battlespace Software Architect Engineering Lead role to work across Lockheed Martin Lines of Business (LOBs), but with a specific focus on F-35, F-22, and Advanced Development Programs.

What You Will Be Doing

A primary responsibility of this position is to provide simulation architecture and vision for a complex battlespace environment simulation (aircraft weapon, sensor, environment and threat models).

• Advanced simulation software architectural diagrams, development and implementation will be required.

• Responsible for the battlespace software architecture for complex dynamic emitters and system interactions for operationally relevant use cases. The Digital Twin simulation must be architected to handle a dense battlefield and rapidly changing test environment. The simulation will support early test of aircraft software in a virtual/simulated environment as well as meet requirements for pilot training level of fidelity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Software architecture development to meet capability requirements
  • Design task creation and tracking, providing guidance, development, and review of any delegated design work to ensure the integrity of the simulation and that it meets the requirements of the program.The Software Architect will develop use cases, and best practices for the design of the simulation. The candidate must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the real-time/battlespace simulation field and will develop and provide design documentation and plans that will be presented to various leaders and customers.The Battlespace Environment simulation architect must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate across software, systems, and design teams and provide design and software technical oversight to ensure program execution milestones are met.The position will require engagement with software development and training stakeholders across LOBs and Business Areas, both internal and external to LM Aeronautics.Need to be able to provide vision, oversight and requirements for simulated battlespace implementations You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in an engineering/technical discipline• Software Engineer or equivalentSoftware/Systems Architecture experience• Experience using an integrated design tool (Cameo or Rational Rose, Rhapsody or SYSML)• Simulation Software Development experience Desired Skills:
  • Experience with battlespace environment models/simulation
  • Experience with battlespace threat and friendly emission models/simulation
  • Experience with requirements decomposition
  • Knowledge of F-35 and/or F-22 aircraft weapons systems.
  • Sensor modeling experience.
  • Experience working with Intel Agencies developing threat and friendly entities.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
