As a Tool Engineer in Skunk Works®, you will play a critical role as liaison between our design engineering teams and the elite women and men responsible for building tomorrow’s future in an advanced manufacturing and technology facility. You will work amongst a team of specialized and professionally diverse engineers to develop conceptual designs and strategies to change and revolutionize the way aerospace approaches manufacturing assembly.

This role may require infrequent travel and possible weekend/off-hour support. Our team supports programs that may require additional special access in addition to a DoD Secret clearance.

Key duties for this position include:

• This is a lead position, you will be leading a small team of tool engineers to support multiple program strategies

• You will be responsible for identifying operational needs and executing strategic planning initiatives for creating safe and efficient tooling solutions for manufacturing

• You will work in parallel with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, supply chain organizations, environmental safety & health and production operations

• You will create Tool Engineering Statement of Work contractual requirements

• You will interface with shop floor management & shop floor personnel to help resolve build issues and implement process improvements to increase efficiency

• You will create shop aid tooling, analyze shop floor performance and support the Quality organization in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process-related defects

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree

• Experienced in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

• Experience with the design, development and implementation of tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, industrial machinery, prototype models and machine attachments required for production or experimental use

• Experienced in the use of 3D design software (e.g. CATIA, NX, Solid-Works, etc.)

• Experience in resolving engineering, production, tooling, and assembly issues related to aircraft structural assemblies.

• Active DoD Secret clearance within the last 5 years AND the ability to obtain and maintain special program access per business requirements.

Desired Skills:

• 14+ years of professional experience

• Previous leadership experience in a Production Engineering discipline

• Experience in Catia V5/V6 or other 3D modeling, 3DX Experience

• Experience in tooling for Determinant Assembly

• Experience with additive manufacturing (e.g. 3D printing etc.)

• Program startup and production standup experience

• Development / shaping of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

• Proven ability to interface effectively with different levels of management and multiple disciplines

• CAM / EVMS execution knowledge and experience

• Ability to coordinate and influence across a broad range of stakeholders

• Experience with manufacturing and standard tool processes.

• Experience with planning and tool design processes.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
