DuPont Process Engineer IV, Water & Protection in Marlborough, Massachusetts

DuPont Water & Protection is recruiting for a Process Engineer IV . We are looking for people who have a passion for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that meet our customer needs for a better, healthier, safer life. Water & Protection is a leading provider of engineered products and integrated systems for the construction, worker safety, energy, oil & gas, transportation, water purification and medical markets.

The Process Engineer IV is responsible for supporting internal/external projects and product development in the field of water and wastewater treatment. S/he will bring an understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies. Specific knowledge of membrane filtration and/or biological wastewater treatment a strong plus. S/he must be capable of working within a team of engineers, and proficient at building strong relationships with clients and vendors.

Engineer IV is an integral part of an order execution team. Working within a group that delivers quality products on-time and on-budget and resolving conflicting but essential priorities is a daily occurrence. Contacts are primarily with immediate manager, team members, customers and contractors.

As a Process Engineer IV, you will:

  • Develop process designs for water and wastewater treatment systems, including P&ID/PFDs, mass balances and component specifications

  • Perform Hydraulic Calculations

  • Perform process mass and energy balances for system design

  • Technical Report Writing

  • Review, comment and approve process documents.

  • Demonstrates strong chemical engineering knowledge and skills with experience in water purification, wastewater treatment and/or membrane processes.

  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills.

  • Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of process engineering.

  • Interface with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support ongoing project efforts

  • Aid in preparing explanations and clarifications to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of routine specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data

  • Assists in communicating routine technical and commercial issues clearly

  • May assist in recommending routine new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements

  • Occasional travel to sites to support field activities and conduct process investigations


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; a major/concentration in Chemical or Environmental Engineering is strongly preferred, OR

  • Equivalent combination of experience in lieu of education may also be considered

  • 3+ years of successful experience in water or wastewater treatment is required

  • Experience in water or wastewater process design.

  • Experience in chemical process design is desirable

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and self-organization skills are essential

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently but willing to seek advice and guidance on nonroutine or problem areas from others

  • Willingness to be a hands-on and solution oriented are essential -proper execution may result in position transformation into leadership

  • Remote Work enabled, accessibility to a DuPont site is desirable; up to 15% of travel may be required

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship/support is available for this position
