Northrop Grumman Business Development Manager 2 - Department of State in McLean, Virginia

The Northrop Grumman Technology Services (NGTS) Global Services (GS) Division is seeking a proven Business Development professional to serve in the role of Account Manager (AM) / Client Executive to cover the Department of State. This position will be located in McLean, Virginia.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all activities essential for the identification, qualification, and capture of new business opportunities

  • Develops strategies to build a pipeline, qualify opportunities, manage all aspects of account/territory growth, and drive customer relationships across all levels of the account

  • Understands the applicable organizations, forms direct relationships across these organizations, andmaintains astrong working knowledge of their budgets, priorities, and areas of investment in relation to NGTS capabilities & technologies

  • Works closely with customers to identify and shape near-term and long-term requirements and successfully secures business within the Dept. of State

  • Serves as the principal liaison and point of contact with all key customers within assigned market segment

  • Interfaces with Northrop Grumman Government Relations to accomplish customer executive level shaping

  • Performs ongoing assessments of customer requirements, determines market trends, and develops strategies that align the customer's needs/opportunities with NGTS capabilities and discriminators

  • Assesses NGTS market position versus competitors in the market segment by assessing their strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities

  • Identifies sufficient business prospects to meet both near and long term business requirements

  • Works closely with technology and strategy teams to determine customer and industry relationships required to scale in this market, and prepares comprehensive market/account plans

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience working alongside or within the U.S. Department of State or similar U.S. government agency

  • Master's degree in a technical or business discipline with a minimum of 6 years of experience working alongside or within the U.S. Department of State or similar U.S. government agency

  • PhD in a technical or business discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience working alongside or within the U.S. Department of State or similar U.S. government agency

  • Must have or be able to obtain an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia

  • Must be able to travel as needed within the metro-Washington, D.C. area (up to 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BD or executive level experience within the U.S. Department of State

  • Strong Dept. of State customer relationships and ability to gain access to Dept. of State decision makers

  • Ability to clearly present ideas to senior management, line management, and customers

  • Ability to position a variety of IT Services with the customer to support their IT modernization and digital strategy needs, with an understanding of and experience bidding and winning in this federal marketplace

  • Proven presentation skills, organizational and time management skills, and a strong sales/marketing presence
