BAE Systems Senior UNIX System Administrator in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Job Description

BAE Systems in Mechanicsburg, PA, is seeking a UNIX System Administrator who will be supporting Logistics programs for a Department of Navy customer. The selected candidate will be a part of the infrastructure team supporting the Logistics Data System (LDS). Primary responsibility will include managing IBM AIX UNIX servers to support the building of a large-scale web-based applications around logistics management system for the US Navy submarine program. Duties will include building and cloning servers focusing on database hosting and batch processing software development as well as responding to server errors and maintaining on premises server hardware.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of related/relevant years of work experience required; Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of related work experience or an Associate's Degree and at least 6 years of related work experience.

Additional skills/experience required:

  • In-depth knowledge of the IBM AIX (UNIX) operating system

  • Unix backup knowledge

  • Data Encryption procedures

  • Must possess an understanding of Configuration Management

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently

  • Ability to obtain a cybersecurity certification as described in DoDI 8570.01 Level II (e.g., Security , GSEC or CISSP)

Security clearance requirement:This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Top Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired, but not required:

Active DoD Secret security clearance

Familiar with Oracle databases

Server virtualization (especially in the IBM AIX environment)

Familiarity with Windows, Linux and UNIX shell scripting

Ability to troubleshoot network connection issues

Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs)

Familiarity with cybersecurity controls in NIST SP 800-171 or NIST SP 800-53

Familiarity with Cloud server technologies

Knowledge of Trident FBM program and Logistics Data System (LDS)
