Our diverse product offerings and technology challenges include high assurance space electronics, secure communications, mission processing, and developing all-domain space payloads for the most complex missions. The Space Systems product line is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Portfolio Chief Engineer (PCE) to support a collaborative approach to the design and implementation of products within our RF Effects (RFx) portfolio. We are leveraging differentiated technology throughout the organization and adapting it for space mission payloads that can be proliferated in low earth orbit. The PCE works with the Product Line Engineering Lead along and the Product Line Technology Director and is a partner to the Portfolio Engineering Lead and Area Director for a program area of the product line, carrying the Space Systems Technology Director s technology roadmap vision into the Portfolios and driving execution.

The PCE will work directly with customers, end users and development engineers to conceptualize, architect and present solutions that solve the toughest mission needs. The PCE will be part time, so for the remainder of the time this candidate will perform Chief Engineer or other lead roles in organization. We are seeking candidates with experience in RF receiver/transmitter design, signal processing algorithm design, requirements development, and integration & qualification. The PCE is the interface between the end users and the development team to ensure that the delivered product meets users needs. The PCE is a partner with the program area leadership and is a key contributor for new business opportunities aligned to the portfolio growth strategy, working with customers, supporting proposals to carry out the new business vision.

In this role the PCE will:

  • Support key programs as a Chief Engineer/Chief Architect as needed to support Portfolio technology needs.

  • Lead technical solution trades, definition, viability and adequacy

  • Ensures system design and implementation meet technical requirements and customer/mission needs within allocated engineering cost & schedule.

  • Drives technical risk and opportunity definition, identification and mitigation/realization.

  • Support generation of the Product Line Technology Director Technology Roadmap and Technology Strategy

  • Work with the Portfolio, Technical SMEs, and Business Leaders to generate the Portfolio Technology Roadmap supporting the Product Line Technology Roadmap.

  • Define, Lead, and at times work on IRaDs relevant to the Portfolio.

  • Perform technical opportunity analysis and design, perform trade studies, and provide initial solution analysis supporting new opportunities.

  • Utilize new business capture, solution design, and development experience to engage with government stakeholders, system architects, and developers to provide program area solutions.

  • Ensure program Technical Baselines are defined and Architecture Review Boards are completed for Portfolio opportunities.

  • Ensure the leverage technology product roadmap strategy is implemented for programs in the portfolio.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active/current Top-Secret clearance

  • 15 years in solution design and development

  • Bachelor s degree or Master s degree in engineering related discipline with 15 years of experience after the date for the completion of your Bachelor s degree, or 13 years of experience after the date for the completion of your Master s Degree

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to interface with senior internal personnel, often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Experience leading RF Receiver/Transmitter Payloads development, signal processing algorithm design, integration & qualification.

  • Demonstrated strong requirements analysis and derivation skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active current Top/SCI clearance.

  • Experience developing proposals, ECPs, and whitepapers focused on new business.

  • Experience with customer/stakeholder communication, management, relationship building, and customer satisfaction.

  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering or other mature System/Software design processes.

  • Ability to coordinate, schedule and lead user engagement activities across multiple DoD and IC organizations with minimal oversight and direction.

  • Exceptional verbal, writing and listening skills: Ability to communicate complex technical solutions across the development and customer environments.

  • Chief Engineer experience with RF Payloads, integration, and qualification in Space applications.

  • Travel to customers and suppliers (20%)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
