BAE Systems is seeking a Hudson NH New England Sr. Principal Systems Engineer EO/IR Subject Matter Expert (SME) and individual contributor in the field of Active Electro-Optical (EO) Systems while joining a growing dynamic group of engineers developing leading edge capabilities in Active optical systems and Passive Sensing.

You will serve as an individual technical contributor and as a technical leader of a growing New England Systems Engineering Capability Group. This role is in support of engineering staffing and helping to align SE resources for the program execution of design, development, integration, implementation, test and verification/validation of EO/IR Sensor/Seeker development supporting passive electro optical and active laser optical attack solution products across multiple business areas.

As an individual senior principal level contributor, you will be responsible for and supporting of bringing technologies to bear on next-generation military/commercial applications. You will also be performing and delivering technical value in the role of delivering program value for active and/or passive EO/IR Systems Engineering, Systems Analyst and System Architect for programs ranging from Strategic Initiatives, IRAD/CRAD research and development prototypes, EMD units, LRIP units to full rate production systems.

As a Technical Leader, you will also work with other engineering staff & team Leaders to grow and capture our knowledge through engineering changes, lessons learned, insights, Agile Retrospectives and product/process improvements in your area(s) of expertise.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• US Citizen with active Secret clearance and eligible for Top Secret/SCI/SAP/SAR clearance

• Building and leading innovative, high-performance teams for technology development

• Working knowledge of active sensing techniques, components, and systems across the electro optical spectrum from UV to RF; characteristics/solutions, atmospheric transmission and modeling; conduct of complex trade studies involving sensors, optical designs, link budgets, make/buy decisions, SWaP-C, and environmental constraints; including performance testing of EO components, sub-systems, and complete systems

• Verification and validation of Military-Specification requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including communication with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives

• Acting as a technical senior advisor to Senior Leadership Teams to support program & products, technical teammates and management as well as for customers in making key technology trade-off decisions

• Working with other experienced team leaders and technical specialists in the EO/IR domain, supporting team growth

• MS in EE, Physics, Lasers, Optics, Systems, or equivalent with 10 years of experience; or PhD in ME, EE, Physics, Optics, or equivalent with 8 years of experience

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Working knowledge of 2-color multispectral wavelength systems across the electro optical spectrum from NIR to LWIR; atmospheric transmission and modeling

• Ability to efficient & effectively conduct complex trade studies involving sensors, optical designs, link budgets, make/buy decisions, SWaP-C, and environmental constraints, including performance modeling, simulation, demonstration and testing of EO components, sub-systems, and complete systems

• Working knowledge of requirements analysis, requirements compliance and trade-off study for active laser radar and passive sensing EO/IR designs and effectively/efficiently converting stakeholder definition to architectural design

• Ability to drive team closure and specification compliance through commitment, cooperation & communication that include the technical team, the leadership team, the stakeholder team and the customer(s)

• Working knowledge of Digital Systems Engineering modeling & simulation techniques using tools such as MATLAB, DOORS, Simulink, MagicDraw, Ansys, Code V/Zemax, NVThermIP/NV-IPM and methods such as AS-9145 (DFMEA & PFMEA), Agile, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

• Working knowledge of Systems Engineering and life cycle processes stages (such as waterfall, spiral, agile/scrum and Vee) and process milestone execution decision gating reviews (such as Systems Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review & Test Readiness Review)

• Bid and proposal experience on major life cycle programs

• Experience working & contributing independently with limited supervision and interacting effectively with other technical team-mates to achieve product and process technical goals while inspiring technical excellence

• Architect, develop Concept of Operations (ConOps) and requirements, design, model, analyze, and testelectro-optical (EO) infrared (IR) systems, subsystems and components (including COTS items) used in a variety of active and passive sensing solutions to military/commercial applications

• Digital Engineering, Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML), Model Based Agile Engineering (Value Driven Digital Threads) and Agile Mindset principle, practices & processes and tools & techniques

• Agile mindset, including familiarity with Agile process, language and nomenclature, to support driving ROI by delivering reliable results on knowledge programs while dealing with technical complexity and uncertainty to unleash personal and team creativity boosting performance, value and collaboration

• Experience supporting inter and multi-disciplinary teams consisting of mechanical, electrical, optical, software, and systems engineers

INCOSE CSEP Systems Engineering process, language and nomenclature preferred

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $126610 - $215270

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
