Job Description

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. To allow employees to balance their work and personal lives, we offer flexible 9/80 work schedules, where employees work nine-hour days with every other Friday off within a two-week pay period.

We are looking for a Chief Engineer (CE) to drive the technical direction of our Threat Warning Development portfolio within the Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line, in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area. As an industry leader in EO/IR and RF technologies, ISS is dedicated to advancing multi-platform detection, tracking and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime survivability.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the customer community and internal business and engineering leadership to shape the technical strategy and direction of the Threat Warning Development portfolio.

  • Work with the product line technical director to develop technical roadmaps and guide internal investments and capability development to position the portfolio for future growth.

  • Develop trusted customer relationships that enable opportunities to shape and influence customer requirements, requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposal (RFPs).

  • Participate as a key contributor to proposal activities: leading system requirements shaping, system architecture and overall technical solution definition.

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customer and internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with individual program chief engineers within the portfolio to ensure that program execution is supporting the business strategic objectives as well as ensuring that the system(s), product(s), and service(s) we are providing are viable, fit for purpose, and will satisfy the customer s mission and requirements.

  • Research, analyze, and evaluate emerging technologies and tools.

  • Lead system architecture design and optimization activities, trade studies and analyses.

  • Provide mentorship to grow the next generation of chief engineers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Physics or a related discipline and 12 years of engineering development experience.

  • At least 10 years direct engineering experience in missile warning technologies (EO/IR capabilities and development) with emphasis on current and future US Army applications.

  • Experience designing, building, testing, and integrating missile warning systems (applied versus theoretical).

  • Demonstrated experience as a technical leader.

  • Experience with leading/developing engineering proposals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.

  • Experience with US Government (US Army specifically) acquisition process.

  • Technology roadmap development experience.

  • MBSE/SysML experience specifying advanced systems architectures.

  • Requirements development and derivation from top-level needs down to sub-system needs

  • SCI Eligible

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
