Shift: Tuesdays to Fridays, from 8:00am to 1:00pm

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Responsible for assisting in the preparation and set up of laboratory tests.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under close supervision, acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.

  • Works on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making. Errors can be made easily and quickly detected and result in only minor disruption to correct.

  • Contacts are primarily within the immediate work unit. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.

  • Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.

  • May refer to senior staff for assistance with day-to-day problems that may arise.

  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Process incoming shipments of specimens, sorting tubes and operating sorting machines, distributing samples for testing

  • Dispose of blood samples and ice packs, archiving tubes, resolving pending issues and performing document imaging.

  • Getting supplies, loading instruments, maintaining robotic equipment

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION :

  • High School Diploma required

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 0 – 1 year’s laboratory related experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical lab and specimen processing preferred.

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently.

  • Ability to follow precise directions in situation requiring speed, accuracy and efficiency.
