Job Summary

Working independently with limited supervision, the Lead Project Manager is responsible for guiding, leading, mentoring the project management staff on all types of projects with individual project management emphasis on larger, complex business line projects as well as strategic corporate initiates.

The leadership includes oversight of the key components of the project management life cycle, processes, phase gates, required artifacts, communication, issues management and all aspects of project delivery. The Lead Project Manager should continually assess the business needs and solutions to ensure the project is managed in terms of scope, quality, time and cost.

The Lead Project Manager is considered highly skilled within project management disciplines. The role will serve as the point of contact for all parties including the business lines, management, team members and third parties (vendors). Additionally, the Lead Project Manager can have Portfolio Management responsibilities.

The Lead Project Manager needs to have an robust understanding of the businesses they support, at an industry and market level, allowing them to incorporate key elements into an initiative.

Job Accountabilities

  1. Manages, facilitates and leads teams on the successful execution and implementation of strategic projects. Promote and advocate a collaborative team environment by coaching and mentoring colleagues while leveraging colleague strengths.

  2. Leads and exemplifies the project management methodology which includes, but is not limited to: Requirements, Testing, Architecture and Design/Security review, Change Management and quality Production readiness/preparedness. Instills this disciplines in those they lead and coach.

  3. Provides leadership and oversight for others as well as individually develops detailed project plans, as well as manage and transparently report on progress status, to ensure timely completion of special project assignments that vary in scope and level of responsibility while quickly adapting to changing requirements.

  4. Oversees the ongoing review of projects(s) status; identifies risks and developments, recommends and implements solutions as appropriate. Ensures alignment to strategic priorities.

  5. Controls projects through the use of project plans and charters to adhere to the “triple constraints”: Time (schedule), Resources (people and financial) and Scope

  6. Provides leadership and oversight for others as well as individually plans, analyzes and schedules multiple interrelated tasks and / or initiatives based upon their strategic value, scope, schedule and resource requirements.

  7. Leads, mentors, guides and manages the task to troubleshoot and resolves issues as needed.

  8. Defines and oversees required research and analytical tasks to define project requirements, achieve project objectives, acquire resources and data, and ensure high quality execution

  9. Manages Project Portfolio to ensure alignment to strategic priorities, effectively assign Project Managers to the initiatives and effectively communicates and staff for the portfolio.

  10. Leads, facilitates and manages participates in third party selection and review third party contracts in conjunction with legal counsel. Follows Third Party Management Process.

  11. Provides leadership and oversight for others as well as individually analyzes requests for feasibility and cost benefit.


  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Required


  1. 10-12 years Banking, Business or Project Management. Work experience with progressive responsibilities, knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts of Project Management., Required

  2. 7-10 years Leading Projects in a Project Management role; Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) tool usage , Required

  3. 1-3 years Project Portfolio Management, Preferred
