As an intern at BAE Systems, you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. This is a summer position that has a typical timeframe of May August. Internships and Co-ops may be shortened or extended at the discretion of the company. In this position you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems Business area at the Minneapolis, MN facility. This position will be a hybrid position that is expected to be both remote and onsite. Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided.
As a LEAP Applied Physics Fluid and Thermal Sciences Intern at BAE Systems, you will:
Support analysis staff with model development, modifications, execution, and output interpretation.
The work involves technical discussions with current staff.
meeting attendance, and independent work.
The hours are flexible but are aligned to provide needed program support.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program pursuing a degree in In-process engineering, mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering
Please add coursework to your resume with educational focus in fluid/thermal sciences, aerodynamics, transport phenomena
Strong interpersonal skills involving communications (verbal and written) and teaming
Self-starter with ability to work independently, if necessary
Demonstrated familiarity with developing computer models of physical phenomenon using common tools/languages
Demonstrated familiarity with experimental methods and data analysis
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Course work involving the mathematical/numerical modeling of fluid and thermal phenomena and systems
Familiarity with data gathering and interpretation.
Experience with common engineering toolsets/languages: Matlab, Python, C
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
