We focus on their goals and priorities, guiding them toward financial choices that will help them live the life they want today—and tomorrow.As the BI Business Intelligence Manager within the Data Office, you will lead a team of Business Analysts with focus on policy and strategy implementation and control rather than development; short-term operational/tactical responsibilities. Responsible for leading the design and support of enterprise wide business intelligence applications and architecture. Works with enterprise wide business and IT senior management to understand and prioritize data and information requirements. Solves complex technical problems. Optimizes the performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index that add value to the user. Creates testing methodology and criteria. Designs and coordinates a curriculum for coaching and training customers in the use of business intelligence tools to enhance business decision-making capability. Develops standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure and attributes of the business intelligence tools and systems. Develops data/information quality metrics. Researches new technology and develops business cases to support enterprise wide business intelligence solutions.

Job Description

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Institute standard development methodologies to ensure that the team is using best practices for collaborative coding, modular efficiency, version control, QA

  • Lead the BI team to build the roles, skills, processes and collaboration with other teams necessary to improve solution delivery speed and improve end user satisfaction.

  • Manage BI request backlogs and report on development progress to stakeholders.

  • Driving multiple technical and data-related projects of varying scopes and complexities.

  • Interfacing with other business units within Thrivent, vendors, and executives to represent and drive our organization's strategy.

  • Using data visualization and other data-gathering methods to either provide internal strategic direction or guide decisions for other teams.

  • Leads report development for strategic initiatives and operations areas as assigned in order to increase efficiencies.

  • Supervise efficient working of all Business Intelligence projects, analyze requirements and perform appropriate tests on same.

  • Administer BI projects, prepare updates and implement all phases for project to achieve project objectives.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, preference degree in Business Analytics.

  • 5 years’ experience leading people and/or projects in the areas of reporting/analytics, prefer 2 years managing a BI team.

  • Leadership of a BI or software development team.

  • BI practices and concepts, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

  • Advanced understanding of the full reporting delivery life cycle, from requirements definition to report development and testing required.

  • Advanced data visualization tool knowledge (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).

  • Ability to interpret analytic results.

  • Project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to turn end-user requirements into actionable tools and insights.
