Thrivent Financial Staff Actuary II in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Summary

Applies business acumen in performing actuarial analysis, modeling, and developing actuarial assumptions. Supports initiatives and takes ownership of project assignments in product development, pricing, valuation and/or risk management.

This role will be responsible for the product pricing functions of Thrivent’s Life or Annuity products. This includes actuarial modeling for both new product development and inforce product management. This role collaborates with other actuarial teams, such as corporate actuarial, to maintain pricing assumptions within the actuarial product models.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, develop and maintain computer models, using a variety of corporate software tools.

  • Research, develop, document and recommend appropriate assumptions and methods to use in models

  • Perform and/or lead analysis, testing and evaluation of produced outcomes.

  • Contribute to a variety of diversified and challenging projects, potentially lead some portions of projects, and perform some regular procedures.

  • Apply actuarial principles commensurate with the Associate of Society of Actuaries certification.

  • Must have passed a minimum of two FSA exams and be committed to continued progression through Society of Actuaries exams

  • Supervise actuarial interns as necessary

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • ASA & MAAA.

  • 2 FSA Exams.

  • 3 years’ experience.

Preferred:

  • Life pricing or annuity pricing experience preferred.

  • This position allows a flexible work arrangement meaning you may work on-site and/or remotely from the Minneapolis, MN area.

Pay Transparency

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $115,224.00 - $155,891.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
