United States Steel Process Coordinator - Maintenance in Minnesota

  • Process Coordinator Electrical Maintenance - This position reports directly to the Area Manager of Electrical Maintenance and is in charge of the Mine, Shop, Crusher, Concentrator and Pellet Plant electrical personnel at the Minntac, or Keetac facility.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for administering the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.

  • Drive best electrical safe practices and safety improvement initiatives through all groups at the site.

  • Coordinate NEC, 70E, and other specialty training for all electricians.

  • Coordinate electrical PMs, breaker servicing, and electrical maintenance with Plant Maintenance Schedule.

  • Oversee electrical shift managers during outage maintenance activities and routine work as needed. Also, ensure there is supervisor coverage in areas during vacations or extended absences.

  • Coordinate Arc Flash Studies across Minntac.

  • Manage High Voltage servicing, maintenance in switchyards, while coordinating efforts with Minnesota Power.

  • Evaluate best electrical maintenance practices across the plants and drive consistency of maintenance practices across the site. Also, evaluate electrical equipment used across the plant and drive towards commonality.

  • Evaluate long term maintenance and required electrical equipment upgrades across the site. Develop schedules and determine capital requirements to implement.

  • Work with Area Manager to define annual budgets and forecast electrical spending throughout the year.

  • Development and management of new projects for Plant and Mine electrical improvements.

  • Lead and manage represented employees in safety performance by auditing and driving safe job procedures.

  • Lead managers and represented employees in environmental compliance.

  • Provide daily guidance to front line electrical managers in safety, environmental and productivity.

  • Communicate with all departments for planned daily activities and outages.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or provide proof of equivalent Industrial Electrical Maintenance experience along with 5-10 years of management experience.

    Candidate must have a high level of Industrial experience in electrical and high voltage equipment within a similar industry.

    The successful candidate will be proficient at managing budgets, outages, large projects and directing electrical personnel.

    In addition, the successful candidate must be a motivated, independent individual with the ability to recognize potential problems and make decisions with little input from other managers.

    S/he must also have the ability to troubleshoot, direct repairs, and upgrade electrical systems to improve equipment reliability.

    Candidates already having or willing to obtain the Master of Records certification are preferred.
