We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Industrial Engineer Student at Minnesota Ore Operations. The Internship affords the opportunity to apply educational experiences to real world engineering principals. This position is a temporary full-time position for the summer of 2025 and will be located at Keetac in Keewatin, MN. This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Report directly to plant managers and work along-side the process engineers and shift managers.

  • Perform testing and optimization of the newly installed DR-grade pellet processing equipment.

  • Develop spare parts lists for equipment.

  • Create operational and maintenance procedures.

  • Update facility documents.

  • Organize equipment manuals, engineering drawings, and other technical information.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

  • Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2024 and be in good academic standing.

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

  • Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

The successful undergraduate will be an analytical problem solver, have an extremely high level of customer focus and a passion for process improvement. In addition, a successful intern will have:

  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Leadership and strong decision-making skills.

  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.

Rate: $23-$24 /hr. This base salary range is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
